RE: What this forum needs?
I just worry that this forum is spiralling into decay. The same posters are saying the same things over and over. I'm not wanting to change the standard of posting here, I do think that on the whole it is really good. I like the generally respectful atmosphere as well.

For met at least I can look at a thread title and pretty much know the general feeling of how a thread will go. That makes it a lot less interesting, which is why I think we should increase our numbers while also maintaining the standards that have been set.

They are spam bot accounts. If they are allowed to sign up the forum would be flooded with 'users' telling everyone about the amazingly cheap Ray Bans they have found on some dodgy looking site,

I've helped 3 people I suggested this place to get their accounts activated here, after they tried themselves for over a month, but just couldn't do it.

And Reddit is a bought and paid for arm of the machine. No ifs, ands, or buts about that one. That's just a fact Jack.

All I know is I signed up one day and was approved in like an hour. Never knew EY or anyone here beforehand, just stumbled upon it while surfing and liked what I found. If that is not the way it works now, then it does deserve discussion.

Same here.

RE: What this forum needs?
Sure... I'm all for it. More activity and discussion would be great. More varying points of view, more varied topics...

That being said... I have some questions.

1. Does this discussion board have a set of official forum rules???

2. If so, where are they?

3. Would the new membership, along with the current membership be required to abide by official forum rules if they did really exist?

Unless this is addressed in a legitimate way, this forum, or any other online forum, will quickly become a fucking fuckest of personal attacks, mega-trolling, stalking, former-forum foe insurgencies, relentless mexican cartel shemale child porn chainsaw decapitation gifs & pervasive non-productive negativity. This is a fundamental physical law of the internet.

iFA=E anyway

i(nternet)F(orum) X A(narchy)=E(xtinction) anyway

Most of you come from the UG/OG right? If the UG from the onset had no real forum rules and "anarchy was strictly enforced" (ha), do you think any of you would be here today?

So all righty then. You either have a 'real' forum... maybe more relaxed with a really dirty picture or two, maybe a bit more foul mouthed non-personally directed language... OR you jump on the nearest T-Rex while that sun spot keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger and...

My two cents. This place will die just in a different manner without the steps I'm advocating. I've been through this 2 times with TeamTakeover (BSL & Fletch a Brit expat ultra-narcissist/psuedo Thai Boxer/drunk MMA writer living soused & homeless on a beach in Thailand) that exploded completely dead because of the exact same things that were starting to go on here.

Then I witnessed MMALinker, which had 225,329 members with a few thousands active still in 2012 completely implode into just a few posters in about 1.5 years. A fucking ghost town because the admin made the mistake that I am telling you will kill this place ANYWAY in the long run without GOOD administration, proper RULES, and REAL moderation base solely on the letter of the law.

Our forum over at G-MMA was never meant to be a huge forum. It was a refuge for long-time senior posters on the major forums, including the ones I mentioned, who were sick of the zuffazombified masses and followed MMA here and internationally while hating with a passion Zuffa, the fucking Mafititta's & that CUNT Dana White. As well, all were ardently anti-North American/unified rules/cage humping/stalling/running/non-submission attempt/non-submission Ultimate Fighting. PRIDE was never any of that. DREAM was never any of that. M-1 was never any of that. Strikeforce was never any of that. Bellator was never any of that. KSW was never any of that. Legend FC was never any of that. Fight Nights.ru was never any of that.... nor was any place on the other side of the oceans the UFC has yet to poison with it's cage and rules and criminal regime.

Zuffa and the cunts that own it have ruined the sport. While they are still in business they are limiting it's true potential. Their time is approaching. It's inevitable. They are their own worst enemy just like Cesar, Napoleon, Hitler and all other empires bent on total world domination.

They are slowly shriveling up like the wicked witch of the west in into a pool of black goo deflating the entire North American MMA market with them (minor leagues/fighter pool/everything) when there is no reason that should be happening.

Over at G-MMA our core membership feels MMA is dead but for a few sparks of life. We don't watch UFC events but for a few fights from the PRIDE guys and the eastern Europeans and the Russian invasion that 'was' happening til Viacom put Coker in and cut his nuts off and the UFC was still bringing them over for fights.

I myself refuse to watch any more post high school non-international level American wrestlers smother & stall & stalemate people to round by round point-fest wins using a wall to pin people against. How is that unarmed hand to hand combat?

I digress. We are dead over at G-MMA now because of the scene currently. The site has not died though. A few core guys are posting about boxing or kickboxing and other combat sports right now. Our main membership guys have gone nowhere they still log in. There's just no much too say about the state of the sport right for them now. When that changes the discussion will pick up again.

bots actually post? I thought they just lurked around

couldn't you just ban them as you identify them? Or would there really be too many?

Might make for funny threads actually lol

We could joke on whatever spam comes through and break down their advertising psychology etc Big Grin

You are probably thinking of search engine bots, they are fairly innocuous and are just used to help scrape the information for Google and the like to put on their sites.

There are also bots that are solely there to post spam and try to get people to go their website. When I set up a (now defunct) Wordpress blog I would get inundated with bots trying to post absolute drivel on my site. They are an issue, but as Diet Butcher has said there has to be a way to get around it as there are many forums out there that are much bigger than this site that manage it.

RE: What this forum needs?
PS: Great post by Dagwood (at least till he started ranting about MMA, lol)

Sometimes I think members here are just evolving to next levels of CT growth; at what point does CT hunting become redundant? To what extent does one need to keep proving over and over to ourselves that the NWO agenda exists? I am much more interested in these days of accepting the CT reality and moving forward as to what we can DO about it than just proving/debating it ad nauseum. Maybe that's what Benwah is feeling, the repetitiveness of us always just convincing ourselves of what we already know, lol

Or is the goal here to enlighten others?

What is the main function of this place in your eyes, and how can it serve that function best?

I think in the end EY is the only one who can really answer this question

Fuck your rules. Rules are for f*ggots and blacks and this site already auto-corrects both those words, so we're good.

RE: What this forum needs?
Excellent post Dagwood. I would say though that a forum is as good as its modding team. As far as I'm aware there isn't a set ToS for this forum the general rule seems to be don't be a cunt.

Obviously there are going to be some bad apples that need to be modded but that is to be expected with being a bigger website. As much as I rib EY and the others about being shills and stuff like that they seem to be a decent bunch of people (even though I do think most of you are misguided in your views), so I'm sure they would do a really good job of ensuring the site continues to run smoothly.

I just want this site to expand and reach its potential, maybe I'm wrong with how to do it, that's why I started this thread to open it up for debate. I guess only time will tell.

RE: What this forum needs?
Gotta give it to EY. He's never accepted a dime for this place, and he could have made a shiny penny.

He's a little arrogant and full of himself at times, but the man is the real deal Holyfield.

I respect that.

RE: What this forum needs?
Even the UG/OG is hurting for traffic. The UG is maybe 50% shills now.

It's a goddam shame what Zuffa has done to our beloved sport.

Long term it will survive and thrive I'm sure, but the clown gangster fuckheads need to go. They are doing their best to burn it to the ground for a quick buck.

I agree, like I said a forum is only as strong as its modding team and unfortunately the mods over at MMA.com aren't up to the job. They selectively moderate people and are happy to troll when it suits them. This isn't how things should be run, people should be more impartial and apply the rules evenly. So the key is to make sure that the team in place make the right decisions.

If this can't successfully be done then the forum was never going to be truly successful anyway.
