RE: Taco Bell's Saturnian Anti Dystopian McDonalds Advert
beginning seemed to be inspired by the commie sequences in the last emperor

notable feminist plug when the guy slips in the water and the girl helps her up.. trad. role reversal.

multicultural setup at the end. black/white couple tosses them a hexagonal sandwich.

not agreeing or disagreeing with anything, just noticing how social agendas are placed in adverts.

the hilarious thing is in the real world.. and not in fantasy they would've been shot 19-20x each before they even got out of the detention center.

Quote:Johnny is quoted by The Observer as saying: "People drift towards liberalism at a young age, and I always hope they change when they see how the world really is."

As noted in tour manager Monte Melnick's book On the Road with The Ramones, Johnny's father was a strict disciplinarian. Johnny is quoted as saying: "My father would get on these tangents about how he never missed a day's work. I broke my big toe the day I had to go pitch a Little League game and he's going, 'What are you – a baby? What did I do, raise a baby? You go play.' And even though my toe was broken I had to go pitch the game anyway. It was terrible. It would always be like that. I'm glad he raised me like that but it would always be, 'What are you – sick? You're not sick. What did I raise – a baby? I never missed a day's work in my life.' Then I went to military school, and in military school you couldn't call in sick."

i guess it confirms the saturn symbology elements in the taco bell logo.

I was skeptical at first, but this somewhat confirms it

Quote:Saturn can vibrate like a bell within periods of a few hours, and these oscillations cause gravitational tugs that, in turn, create the spiral patterns in the rings. The cause of the vibrations remains unknown. Researchers at Cornell found the density waves propagate inward and appear to be generated from within Saturn rather than from any moon. Astronomers know that gravity from Saturn’s various moons tug at the planet’s rings and make spirals in them. But the catalyst for certain spiral patterns has been difficult to pin down.

Johnny was ultra-conservative, and a Charles Manson admirer but Joey, the lead singer, was very liberal. A lot of their songs, like the one used in the ad, had quasi Nazi references, but it all seemed tongue in cheek. The Ramones are all dead, so the choice of song was probably just used because the term Blitzkrieg Bop fitted with the oppressive theme of the ad.

RE: Taco Bell's Saturnian Anti Dystopian McDonalds Advert
looks like taco bell is seeing themselves like Apple vs. the Microsoft that is McDonalds.

I would say In N' Out or Five guys are better challengers, albeit with slightly higher prices.

Taco Bell is actually good. Had it for the first time in years when I went back to the US recently.

I would rather eat taco bell compared to mcdonalds anyday. But i dont' really like the ad, fake liberation.

Taco Bell doesn't strike me as the true symbol of going against the establishment by any stretch of the imagination. It's a bit like choosing Democrat over Republican.

Everyone wants the same thing.. Total domination.

Apple marketed itself as the poor but talented Challenger.. now they are engaging in a world socialist hegemonic campaign.

cool find.. good example of how they use symbolic subliminology ™ to warp minds

I think the ad is actually a good summary of the currently reality of the American notions of "Freedom & Choice".

Well done Taco Ba'al.
