RE: SYRIA - Discussion Thread
No matter what you think of gnosticism, isn't it sad to see another ancient civilization wiped out by this war?

http://www.mandaeanunion.org/HMRG/EN_HMRG_015.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandaeism

Iraq is basically a living museum of civilization and the Americans have destroyed it. Where will the Mandeans go when Syria falls?

Well it is sad to see.

It's pathetic. NO one will speak up for them.

Christianity is targeted so badly yet no western country will speak up for them.

Any objective, dispassionate observer of Iraq during this time period would have LAUGHED at the idea that Saddam would have made his bed with Islamist radicals. Really, allies with the same people who had been trying to destabilize his regime for decades? Terrorists who were funded largely by Saudi Arabia, a sworn enemy of the Ba'athist state? What a bunch of clowns.

It is impossible to exaggerate just how retarded the Bush administration acted during this time period. Bush had people in his cabinet who did not even know the difference between Sunni and Shi'ite. Donald Rumsfeld famously stated that invading Iraq would result in little opposition from the populace, because Iraq had no holy places, unlike Saudi Arabia. Oops, except Iraq houses Karbala, one of the HOLIEST places in Shia Islam. You think the locals won't get mad when a bunch of infidel soldiers defile it with their presence? Dipshits.

In 2006 Iraq reached a point where something like 99 out of 100 "insurgents" were local Iraqis. And of course, the usa required a new surge of troops to deal with the new "terrorist" menace. Yeah, you retards. The locals are trying to kill your soldiers because an evil empire invaded their country and is killing their wives and children. Ever hear of a movie called Red Dawn?

Ha! This actually reminds me of the time American blowhard political commentator Chris Mathews defended his repeated reference to the Iranian people as Arabs by rationalizing that no other "Muricans" know the difference either.

And he really does pronounce it "Muricans"!

I don't think they are retarded at all. they know exactly what they are doing. they play dumb so the public excuses them. GWB played the dumb clueless president to great effect.

No country that can make basic mistakes like this can successfully manage 900 bases in 130 countries

This being the quality of international expertise in the American media, you can see how the possibilities for international military adventurism would be pretty much unlimited.

Absolutely, they play off the uninformed media and public to great effect.

But we all like to remember him in our own way.

Peculiar isn't it, that he got himself elected, and then re-elected after starting two wars, playing a buffoon.

And of course this Hitto is not only an American, but a Kurd, the traditional henchmen of the Anglo powers. I'm curious about the French position in all of this. I recall they were quite heroic in their opposition in the UN to the invasion of Iraq. And Iraq was a post WW1 British province/gas station. Syria was French.

Hollande is completely on board with destroying Syria. The French were quick to officially recognize the "rebels". I have much more to post on Syria.

And of course, we're not exactly saying that we have to go to war against Syria, but, ummm, democracy! Freedom! Terrorists! USA numbah one! What a bunch of shit heads.

The worst thing is that if you watch Al Jazeera or Russia Today, you will HEAR these Sunni rebels openly declare that as soon as they get into power, they will oppress the Christians, Shia, and Allawites, institute Sharia law, declare hostility to the West, etc.... and these retards are freedom powers to you goat scrotums?? Is something wrong with your frontal lobes?

They said the EXACT same thing about Ghadaffi. Did he commit some atrocities? Sure. But not because he was a uniquely oppressive guy. Both he and Assad are strongmen who 1) wish to maintain the status quo, and 2) mercilessly crush anyone who challenges their rule. You are a tard if you assume, therefore, that anybody who opposes him is a "freedom fighter". No. This is like calling Communists who fought against the Chinese warlords in 1920 "freedom fighters", instead of dangerous thugs.

These Islamic radicals are 100% more oppressive and dangerous than any Arab dictator. Saddam Hussein was a declared ENEMY of Al Qaeda. And yet the American shitheads had to depose him, because, uhhh, he was gonna make nukes out of camel turds and date palms. And now they act all surprised when Christians are being murdered in the streets every day, and the entire country has descended into chaos.

Oppression of Christians and minority sects is exactly what the Iraqi experience has been, with tolerant multi-religious Syria available and willing to house the great influx of Iraqi Christians, Yezidis and Mandean-Sabean gnostics as refugees by the tens of thousands. Toppling Syria leaves Lebanon as the last Christian friendly country in the region. It must be next on the US to do list.

Yes, on the pretext of eliminating Hezbollah, which the "rebels" have also threatened and targeted. This war in Syria, whether the average "rebel" realizes this or not, benefits Israel, at least in the short term.

The Christians and Alawi are finished in Syria.

It's disturbing how naive and trusting the Christians are in the beginning, both in Iraq and Syria, after their being deceived and betrayed by the British over and over and over again for the past century. They can't accept evil intentions for what they are.

Looked like statues from the Roman or early Byzantine period EY. His objection seemed to be that they didn't represent monotheism. So he wasn't necessarily anti-Christian, though he might well be that too, but just a vandal and a buffoon. He is gleefully destroying the ancient sculpture of his own country. We saw this behavior from the Taliban in Afghanistan, this rebel movement seems to share a very medieval outlook with their Taliban brethren.

Barbarians.
