Just from my point of view, caring about what others think is deeply rooted in "selfishness".

An externalized version of narcissism.

Most people do good things because it makes them feel better about themselves, make other like them better, put them in better standing with God, avoid punishment, or because they think there might be some reward down the line somewhere.

To me, these are all the wrong reasons to act "selflessly".

You can never force human being being to "be good" or "be selfless" using a carrot and a stick.

It just makes human being worse off in the long run.

A robot can be programmed to "be good", but that doesn't mean the robot has any true understanding of why he is being good.

That means the good behavior isn't natural or based on any kind of understanding of one's human nature or the nature of others.

In a sense, schools are mind control institutions.

There there to teach people to be good robots. Good citizens that acts as society wants to to act...whatever that might happen to be at the moment.

To make you a useful dupe and indoctrinate you into the system in place.

While, at the same time, separating you 8 hours a day from your natural family.

You know one obvious flaw is that Empathy is a Social Behavior, not part of a Curriculum.

Gratitude can also be translated to obedience.

What creates empathy is understanding, critical thinking, and self-awareness...which schools have no interest in teaching.

Schools, by and large, are operated like an ant farm.

But then they expect children to understand and be compassionate to one another?

It's just not gonna happen.

Schools, themselves, are a main source of the problem.

This is correct

The function of the modern school is to create good worker bees.

You simply can't shove 45 kids together in a room all day and expect them to become decent people.

Maybe you can teach them to become good drones, but not good people.

Homeschooling is really the way to go if you want your child to be a fully developed human being.

Which is why there is so much propaganda coming from the top-down against it.

This right here. In Western public school, your child is conditioned to be a productive cog in the wheel of society, nothing more.

I guess it didn't matter whether we elected Clinton or Trump.
