RE: Madden Game completely predicted Super Bowl Game score.
here is how I see it:

2nd & goal. 20-some seconds left. 1 timeout.

you run lynch & he gets stuffed? you are forced to use your last timeout.

with no timeouts & less than :20 left, you are forced to pass the ball on both plays & the defense knows it.

now, forgetting the AMAZING INT for a minute...

2nd & goal. 20-some seconds left. 1 timeout.

you call a pass play? it's either a TD or incomplete pass.

incomplete pass stops the clock & you still have your 1 timeout left & 2 plays from the one.

with that 1 TO left, the option is still there to either run or pass which keeps the D honest.

still a dumb call imho. I would have def ran lynch because I think he scores, but I can (somewhat) see the reasoning.

Daglord,

You would try to rational them punting the ball in that situation if that's what they decided to do.

It wasn't am amazing INT either.

It was actually an easy INT for a defense defending a short slant route at the one yard line.

You couldn't make it any easier for them.

At the very most, you run a play-action roll out pass to the tight end, which give the QB the option of running it in or throwing it away if he's covered.

A slant pattern on the 1 with a timeout left?

I can definitely see why people think there is something shady going on the NFL.

I thought you were a football fan?

calling that an easy INT is ridiculous and reeks of EY (who has admitted to not knowing much about FB & I can respect that).

figured you knew better...

It is an easy INT.

The safety was probably wetting his pants when he saw that play coming.

lol. so... russell wilson is supposed to throw an INT to lose the game & they wait until he gets down to the 1 to do it?

like I said, one second too early & it's pass interference. one second too late it's a TD.

you could make it MUCH easier on them by having him 'neil o'donnell' to someone in that final minute.

simple logic.

The problem with "logic" is that it allows you to rationalize almost anything you want to rationalize.

It's a timing pattern.

The safety is just sitting there reading the quarterback and knows exactly when the ball is coming and when to get there.

And, alas, there he was.

I'm not saying it was a conspiracy or that Russell Wilson was involved in anything.

He's just running the play that was called.

The fact that you are rationalizing this play shows that you will attempt to rationalize just about anything.

well, if you can't see how a coach might see it, & how clock management might have come into play, you really don't know the game of football.

I'm not justifying the call, I think it was retarded.

but I can also see how the one timeout & what little time was left, MIGHT have played into the decision.

but I wouldn't expect you to try & look @ every possibility...

why start now right ??

one of the best QBs in the league and he gave a very easy INT.. his reaction following that huge mistake was telling too. he didn't really react.

very odd reaction.

Sports games are rigged all over teh world for gambling or marketing purposes. to think the NFL is not capable of this is pure folly. just a couple weeks ago they were deflating the ball to give Tim Brady an advantage. that is a type of rigging.

RE: Madden Game completely predicted Super Bowl Game score.
Postscript.

Three years later, the offensive coordinator responsible for the worst call in football history finally is fired.

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seah...-seahawks/

"But the 2014 season ended with a play call that will go down as the defining moment of Bevell’s Seattle career — a pass from the 1-yard line in the final seconds of Super Bowl XLIX that was intercepted by New England’s Malcolm Butler, preserving a 28-24 win for the Patriots and denying a second consecutive Super Bowl title for the Seahawks.

Bevell and Carroll took responsibility for the call, but Bevell’s reputation took a hit with fans that might ultimately have been too much to overcome.

“It’s a terrible memory,’’ Bevell said in 2016, before a rematch between the Seahawks and Patriots. “Every time it comes up it sticks in your gut. … So it’s something that is always there, something I have grown from, something that I have learned from. But it ain’t going away. It’s always going to be there.’’

Whatever one thinks of the conspiracy angle, this episode shows how one poor decision can have lasting, devastating impacts.

Prior to this loss, the consensus among NFL fans was that Seattle was a dynasty in the making, with a young quarterback, a young defense, etc. Since this loss, Seattle has not returned to the Superbowl and in fact missed the playoffs completely this season.
