RE: The Ramen Rater
so this guy excluded Taiwanese ramen from his top 10 lists?

Taiwan makes some of THE BEST instant noodles.

Japan has very high quality noodles.. but Taiwanese instant noodles have amazing broth.

Korea is good, but they only have one core style for the most part : Shin Ramyun + knockoffs

RE: The Ramen Rater
EvilYoshida, no offense meant but like the reviewer himself your assertion of what is the best instand noodles is subjective, which is why its dangerous when one mans opinion becomes "fact", I dont believe its the case for this fellow, although it nearly became the case for Robert Parker re wine before he was caught out as the fraud he is, still many millions still believe & follow his advice.

But what is good to one man, is not necessarily as good to another, if that was the case we'd all be eating the same noodles.

^ i agree. it's very subjective. i don't think he's trying to present himself as an expert or anything.

RE: The Ramen Rater
He knows what he likes.
He's tried nearly all of them.
As such I can't disagree with his personal opinion, after all its not as though he's speaking from a point of view that he's just tried one & stuck to it.

RE: The Ramen Rater
yeah. Maybe i was too hard on him.

I actually like the way he reviews. he does not use disgusting and annoying terms such as "succulent" "deconstructed" "lush"

i'm just saying he doesn't really understand instant ramen like asians understand it. which is good because he is doing this for a western audience.

RE: The Ramen Rater
this is a fascinating field that deserves more study.

I have probably tried over 150 of these over the years.

RE: The Ramen Rater
He does seem fairly objective in saying its to his own tastes, here he is on his top 10 worst list :

I should point out that these are on the list because I couldn’t stand them. I’m pretty sure they are all still in production, and the only reason they would be is that people somewhere find them enjoyable. So who knows – you might have a completely different opinion on these than me, but I found them to be absolutely the worst of the worst.

Also EY he is a great fan of the red rooster sauce

Hot Sauce

Here are some of my favorites:

Melinda’s Garlic Habanero Hot Sauce – This one was my favorite of all the hot sauces I reviewed when I was The Sauce Rater. Worth getting and enjoying!

Huy Fong Sriracha (aka Red Rooster sauce) – Hot, sweet and hot!

^ yeah.

You can't deny his passion and enthusiasm.. and i'm sure he enjoys what he is doing.

I do visit his site just to check out certain makes I haven't tried. I don't really pay attention his reviews in general.

RE: The Ramen Rater
I don't eat (packaged) ramen much these days but always keep some in the cupboard just in case. Bought these the other day... have not tried it yet. He gave it a 3.5 rating. Not bad.

RE: The Ramen Rater
it's the premium version of Shin. it's good.

I really like Korean Instant ramens, but they dont' have much variety. they just do one style very well.
