M4 Shermans in wwii had a similar design flaw. Because of their gasoline engines, they burst into flames quite easily when hit. And their thin armor didn't help either???!!!

And, the same reason with the ammo, the ammo exploded as well as the fuel turning the sherman into a "Ronson"???!!!

The Russian tanks use an auto-loader instead of a person. All of the ammo is stored in the middle under the turrent. That's why all the ammo explodes and the turrent blows off when the tank is hit just right with a explosive.[/i]
