RE: 17 years after Superman fell from the horse and paralyzed himself
I could never understand why Christopher Reeve, and Michael J Fox for that matter, continued to suffer from their illnesses and cry about stem cell treatment being banned in the USA, which both claim could have improved their quality of life greatly. Both people were/are in a financial position to have travelled to a country that does perform the treatment but instead they just put up with it. Even in Reeve's time the technology was being used successfully in some countries.

Meanwhile, Mel Gibson takes his blind and crippled father to South America for treatment and the guy was tap dancing 3 months later, with restored vision and the elimination of his chronic illnesses.

Stem cell research isn't banned. FEDERALLY FUNDED stem cell research is what they want. They want YOU to pay for it.

Both of the people I mentioned could easily have afforded to pay for it themselves.

I recall Christopher Reeves making a big deal out of it, but he never went to a overseas place that could help him. Michael J Fox did the same thing, even going off his medication so he was really shaky and looking terrible, so he could make a commercial about it.

Nowadays you've got athletes who go to South America for successful treatment of something as mild as a bad knee. I don't understand the thinking of the Michael J Fox's of the celebrity world. Maybe they prefer to play the martyr.

I'm just trying to figure this shit out like you are.

If they could reverse aging they'b be able to reverse Parkinson's. Parkinson's is when the neurons that control motion age and deteriorate ahead of the rest of the body. Anybody that lives long enough will eventually develop Parkinson's. But it's interesting how companies like pfizer never invest in that area even though they already have the proof of concept (Henrietta Lacks immortal cell lines), but they (along with govnments) coerce the whole world into a taking half-baked gene therapy for some flu variant.
