Fightsport.com discussion
So last night I was interviewing the crew of the Lytesout Podcast and Mike Davis started asking about Fightsport.com. One of the things he asked was that if FS ever got any legal documentation sent to them. He also suspected that the late Ryan Bennett was leaking info to people at FS. There has always been this misconception that I was involved with the inner workings of FS. I suggested this forum to Mike.

That’s why he got whacked? It’s the first time I heard that about Ryan Bennet but the Fertittas were a mafia family after all.

Fightsport.com was revived once as fightsport.net but they shut down under suspicion that Fatbody had trolled ArtV into committing suicide.

Tape Lord was very careful to protect his identity and his location, he never received any legal documentation because ZUFFA didn't know where to send it.

When I wrote the 'Z-Files' as Scoop McTroll, there was an attempt by Zuffa's lawyers to sue whoever wrote it, and legal documents were flying around the internet, but once again they didn't know who or where.

As for Ryan Bennet, he used the same password on Fightsport as he did for his Yahoo email, so Tape Lord was logging in and reading Bennet's emails. It took Bennet over a year to realise what was going on and where the leaks were coming from.

One time, Tape Lord quoted Dana White telling Bennet that the only way he'd get back on the UFC broadcasts were if he wore high heels and a mini-skirt. Bennet then thought that Fightsport had an insider within ZUFFA.

Tape Lord would often use "Coffee Guy" a mythical worker inside ZUFFA, to explain how he would get the stories.

I'm just trying to figure this shit out like you are.

Sherdog stole the Z-Files article and then it was reposted on a forum called Zenzone, the forum owners received this threat, among others.

Reposted in this thread from an older thread on the EY main forum.

The history of Fertittas and the Sicilian Maceo brothers, who it says ran illegal rackets and gambling in Galveston through the late 50s, as described in the subject article penned by a "Scoop McTroll" posted herein, is less than accurate and described by them as a "pack of lies"; 2. We may post the lawyer letter soon, maybe, but we are are showing the Zuffa attorneys some reasonable respect and courtesy in the meantime while we assess the reality of the defamation allegations directed at us. zg]

What was the reason for the fallout between Dana and Bennett?

I wonder if the monitoring of his Bennett’s emails made Dana believe that he was the leak when in actuality he was the victim

Damn. The internet 1 was like a saying they have back home , "the time when people used to tie a dog up with string sausage". Such a naive time.

Rendeck and Todd know this better than I do, but for those that don't fightsport.com managed to get a UFC Main Event cancelled after they leaked the info that Tim Sylvia had failed a second drug test prior to his title fight. The UFC was going to cover it up , but were forced to cancel when Joey Odessa learned about the failed test, and took down the odds for the fight. Then they had that fallout with Ryan Bennet, and a couple of years later he rolled his SUV and died.

So they only challenged the article in 2013? Scoop wrote it in the early or mid 2000s iirc? Zuffa was very aware of FS during all of that time, in fact Dana was a regular poster under his real name.

If I recall correctly, Bennet had already been dumped by ZUFFA before the 'leaks' started coming out. They didn't think that he fitted with the new direction of ZUFFA's UFC vision. At the time they were hiring bimbos to do on camera work, hence Dana White's high heels and mini skirt comment.

It might have also had something to do with rehiring Joe Rogan, and finding the money for his salary.

Once the Fightsport blog started breaking scoops, more and more people within the industry began contacting Tape Lord with inside info, it became a self fulfilling prophecy. Sometimes the stories were simply an educated guess, which often turned out to be correct.

Tape Lord spoke fluent Portuguese and had spent a lot of time in Brazil, he would also get material from the Brazilian fight press articles, translate it and repost it, which wasn't a common thing at that time.

Dana and Lorenzo were both members of Fightsport and would post there at times. Dana White once posted when he was obviously drunk and he said many things that weren't appropriate for the image he was trying to create at the time. The next day he denied ever having been to Fightsport, or having a membership there.

I'm just trying to figure this shit out like you are.

Like I said, Tape Lord did a good job of hiding his identity and location, I'm sure that ZUFFA wanted to sue Fightsport but didn't know who what or where. When the article began to recirculate years later, they finally had someone that they could threaten.

What's funny is that there was nothing in the article that wasn't already in the public domain if you looked for it, I just put it all together and joined the dots. Nothing in it was incorrect.
