RE: The Dead Internet Theory
it's fair to say that if you're not actively participating, the internet is mostly dead

if you're actively participating, you can just be talking to the aether.

I think this site is one of the new non-bot infested sites

that is because there was never any open signup process.

and in retrospect that could be seen as a good thing.

Even without bots and as relatively small as EY is, it has had to contend with flesh and blood shilling over the years (ahem, Daglord...). Not to mention alts. But, for the most part, at least here you are pretty sure you're talking to other humans. You go out there in the big places of the internet though...

RE: The Dead Internet Theory
You're told that you have hundreds of millions of search results but Google will only show you the first 43 pages.

I remember 20 years ago when 10,000 results came up on a Google search and I could scroll through maybe 1000 results.

It’s like the Google engineers re-wrote their basic algorithm to maximize confirmation bias and outrage culture. That’s what happens when the Information Age meets capitalism.

RE: The Dead Internet Theory
I remember in the early days of the internet there was do many fan sites and geo sites ran by everyday people. By the mid 2000s they were all but gone. The Fred Ettish, fetal fighting page was a personal favorite.
