You're right. Cheapest food I've ever seen, and everyone eats out. Think I ate Gray's Papaya hotdogs everyday for a month straight when I lived there. But eating like that is terrible for your health.

yeah. i don't know what's going on in NYC. is it the subsidies, the amount of foot traffic?

super cheap. like straight up 1998 prices

of course NY has some of the most expensive stuff too.. but you would see 99 cent pizza everywhere.
also if you go to Chinatown NY, most of the menu items are well under 10 bucks.
