https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot_boxing:
Shoot boxing (シュートボクシング, Shūtobokushingu) is both a combat sport and a stand-up fighting promotion company based in Tokyo, Japan. The organization was founded by former kickboxer Caesar Takeshi in 1985.

Shootboxing is a mixture of its two parent combat styles of shoot wrestling and kickboxing, allowing for kicks, punches, knees, elbows, throws, and standing submissions (chokeholds, armlocks and wristlocks).

But so what happened?

When they saw they couldn't compete in the heavier weight classes the masses lost interest?

Minowaman didn't slay the giants enough times?

Pride was taken out, associated with Yakuza and MMA never fully recovered.
Wouldn't be surprised if US intel agencies had something to do with Pride's downfall

Good non clumsy movement. Good vibes for a show that takes place in a gymnasium. No annoying commentators to jiber jaber and ruin everything.

I went to a lot of their events from 2002-2005. Shootboxing was one of my favorite shows to watch there. I also visited Ceaser gym once and got to meet a lot of the top fighters from that era.
