RE: US eyes building a nuclear plant on Moon & Mars
the safety measures and redunancies required are much more numerous
also the extra equipment needed to keep humans safe in a module adds to its complexity
also with humans you have to soft land and not crash land.
It's very different with humans on board.
Also the craft that you land with humans has to be MUCH BIGGER

in addition you have to shield properly for RADIATION which may damage human DNA, something you don't have to care about with a robotic lander.

in none of your excuses do the physics change for a landing.

is it a bigger lander ? yes, but the physics are still the same.

the US knew how to land on the moon before apollo

gravity didnt change because humans are on baord. the power of rockets doesnt change because humans are on board. the non atmosphere doesnt change because humnas are onboard. the lunar surface doesnt change because humans are on board. etc ...

If it were unmanned then they wouldn't have to make it suitable for humans to travel in. As EY said, radiation is one factor, as is heat or cold, travel time can also be a lot longer with an unmanned craft without it being an issue.
