The muy Thai guy was just an inexperienced beginner. He had no technique.

I would say he was midlevel, not a beginner.

the wing chun guy was a one trick pony but very good at that one thing.

I do believe WING CHUN WORKS.. go down the center.

he proved it works , against someone who was FIT and BIGGER THAN HIM.

I'd be far more concerned fighting an untrained drunk than a Wing Chun master.

I've done some Wing Chun. It has some good concepts but it's practical applications are useless.

they don't do any conditioning.

without gloves the wing chun guy could have done serious damage.

wing chun also specializes in eye pokes and throat shots.

those are instant fight enders

a lot of TMA was developed for actual combat but got watered down over time.

TMA must have worked in the past before widespread gun usage.

Everything about the way they use their bodies is totally ineffective.

Punches at awful angles. Zero Hip Rotation. Zero Head Movement. Head always on the Center-Line. Stiff Posture. Chin Up. Square Stance with Knees turned inwards, Arms glued to the side. No Grappling, no Kicks, almost no dynamic movement, no exposure to curved punches.

It really doesn't get much worse than that.

real street fights, bar fights or encounters are generally over pretty quick.

I would say wing chun has been battle tested for close quarters combat.

gloves and MMA style ring fighting is not real fighting at the end of the day.

groin, eye, throat shots are all instant gamechangers

wing chun might not do that well against TRAINED MMA guys, but it does work against untrained hooligans, that is why german police train wing chun or at least they used to.

Typical white "Muay Thai" fighter.

They should have found a Thai to fight the WC guy.

Interesting match. The muay thai fighter was experienced but maybe not that much in battle. He had a very well practiced highkick but lacked in experience with high pressure fighters. i guess he is more trained in the old style muay thai which heavily leans on kicks and knees and hardly boxing skills. had he been a slightly better boxer then he could counter a lot more and create distance.

The Wing chung guy fought excellent. Excellent hand speed and stamina, didn't do as much damage but kept the fight close and disturbed the thaifighters rythm so he couldn't establish his game.

I wouldn't give the fight to the WC guy but also not to the thai guy. Maybe if they fought 5 rounds there would be a clear winner.

Maybe this is a better example of a experienced Muay Thai vs experienced Wing Chung

can't agree with you on that. Having done multiple sparring sessions with my brother in law who practices WC i would be terrified if i would be surprised with a WC fighter in a streetfight.

They are trained from day one to execute the blitz strategy untill your down. If you don't know who your up against then your down in seconds before you can raise your fist.
Unfortunatly for my brother in law i did know what i was up against;-) I've written multiple breakdowns of our sparring sessions here

For that matter any boxer or muay thai fighter can do the same, but here comes the WC philosophy in play.
Be fearless and aggressive, keep pushing and take out your opponent. ALWAYS

WHere the boxer of muay thai fighter would start slower because they are used to the sport element in there training.

Unless they want to kill you then nobody stands a chance against a fearless and aggressive boxer or muay thai fighter

Ask for the blue pill. The rabbit hole isn't that nice

Old style Muay Thai lacks in boxing skills/hand work. Wing Chung excels in hand speed at zero distance. Maybe if they throw some elbows in it would get interesting. But you need to create distance with the hands so you can execute the lowkicks and knees with power

I agree with this.
WC people move fast and they blitz. Perfect for street fights.
Do I think WC is super effective? no. but it's not as bad as people say and a lot of it is based on science. Shortest distance between two points is a straight line.
The guy in the vid showcased this principle in action

almost all TMA worked before widespread usage of guns.

people fought MORE HAND TO HAND back before BJJ was even invented.

I think what happened was that TMA became more ceremonial as its combat usage died down in importance.
i also think USA toned down a lot of martial arts worldwide esp. i places like Japan and Korea after WW2
