YESTERDAY

Mark Zuckerberg should stop obfuscating the facts by piously arguing for government regulation (“We need more regulation of Big Tech”, February 17).

Mr Zuckerberg appears to be engaged in some kind of mutual assistance arrangement with Donald Trump that will help him to get re-elected. Facebook does not need to wait for government regulations to stop accepting any political advertising in 2020 until after the elections on November 4. If there is any doubt whether an ad is political, it should err on the side of caution and refuse to publish. It is unlikely that Facebook will follow this course.

Therefore, I repeat my proposal, Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg should be removed from control of Facebook. (It goes without saying that I support government regulation of social media platforms.)

Yep, more government regulation. It is always the answer. God forbid people learn to discern the truth for themselves.

What good could come from that? Critical thinking and analytical possibilities? The ability to spot disinformation and outright lies? No thanks!

Government censors will solve the problem of too much free speech!

I'd like to see the Communications Act of 1934 expanded to redefine social media and video platforms as public utilities, but I think Emperor Palps has something else in mind.

or just defined as public square

if these tools are the primary modes of communication, then they should be treated as a utility

if there was actual COMPETITION between these platforms, that would be a diff. story

I don't understand why there can only be one google

it's like having only one brand of car.

there should be tons of diff. search engines.
