Andrew Yang notches personal fundraising record by raising $750,000 in 24 hours

Presidential hopeful Andrew Yang is building momentum when it comes to attracting more and more donations.

The Democratic presidential candidate announced his campaign raised nearly $750,000 on November 30 — a record single-day haul for his campaign — to bring his weekly fundraising total to $2 million. A campaign spokesperson confirmed more than 18,000 contributions were made in the 24-hour period at an average of just $41.

“If the political establishment was shaken when they saw what we accomplished in Q3, they better brace themselves in the coming months because we’re going to continue to shatter expectations and win this race,” Yang’s campaign chief Nick Ryan said in a statement.

The latest cash infusion builds on an impressive showing for Yang in the third quarter. His campaign boasted the largest fundraising jump by percentage among any of the top-tier candidates by posting a 257% jump in donations to hit $10 million in donations over that period.

The fundraising boost comes at a welcome time for Yang, who has yet to qualify for the sixth Democratic debate, which requires candidates to meet donor thresholds and poll at or above 4% in at least four DNC-recognized polls by the deadline of December 12. Despite meeting the donor requirements, Yang is still one poll shy of the debate stage.

A Yang campaign statement highlighted that the influx of support from donors would allow the businessman to continue to expand his campaign’s “footprint and ability to compete in early voting states with new offices and more staff” at a time when the Democratic field still remains packed with six candidates already qualified for the sixth debate, including former Vice President Joe Biden, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sens. Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Last week, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced he would be joining the race as well with a $35 million advertising push.

It's interesting that his donations keep going up even as his campaign seems to be slowing down. It's hard to figure out what it means other than some people really believe in him.

If he finishes strong he could be a likely contender next time. I'm not sure going up against an incumbent is the best first attempt at the presidency.

He's very popular online and in real life.

The MSM knows he is the real threat so they are shadowbanning him effectively

the one good thing about YANG is I think he genuinely cares. he's not doing this for himself. You can tell.

His net worth is very very low.

Bloomberg has risen to 3rd place tied with Warren at this point. I guess avoiding the debates worked out for him.
-

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg saw a 6-point bump in the latest Hill-HarrisX survey of the Democratic presidential primary.

The nationwide poll, which was released Friday, shows Bloomberg up from 5 percent to 11 percent support for the nomination nationally. The former New York City mayor is now in a dead heat for third place with top-tier candidate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who also received 11 percent support.

Biden, meanwhile, continues to lead the Democratic field with 28 percent followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) at 16 percent.

Former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg saw another slight dip, after slipping 4 percentage points in mid-December. In the latest survey, he now has 6 percent support, down from 5 percent from the Dec. 13-14 poll.

Bloomberg’s rise in the latest Hill-HarrisX survey comes in spite of his late entry into the 2020 race and the fact that he hasn’t appeared in any of the Democratic primary debates.

Bloomberg has chosen an unorthodox campaign strategy, making the decision not to raise money and instead deciding to fund his own campaign. This has disqualified him from taking the debate stage under rules from the Democratic National Convention.

Under DNC rules, candidates must reach certain polling and fundraising thresholds.

However, prior to announcing his bid in November, Bloomberg launched an ad buy totaling roughly $19.4 million over 90 local markets across the country. After making his campaign official, he also rolled out a 60-second spot as part of his $31.5 million media blitz.

Bloomberg's multimillion-dollar ad expenditure has made him a prime target for his fellow rivals.

After the multimillion-dollar rollout, Warren accused the former New York City mayor of trying to buy the November election.

“I don’t believe that elections ought to be for sale,” Warren said on the former New York City mayor’s own network, Bloomberg TV. “And I don’t think as a Democratic Party that we should say that the only way you’re going to get elected, the only way you’re going to be our nominee, is either if you are a billionaire or if you’re sucking up to billionaires.”

Warren, meanwhile, appears to be losing some momentum after challenging Biden’s front-runner status as recently as October.

The RealClearAverage of Iowa polls shows her in fourth place at 16 percent support behind Biden’s 19 percent. Buttigieg continues to lead in the early primary state with 22 percent, with Sanders trailing at 20 percent.

Warren was also surpassed by her top three rivals in the primary race in terms of fundraising.

The Warren campaign announced Thursday that it had raised $21.2 million, compared to Biden’s $22.7 million haul and Sanders’s $34.5 million.

The Hill-HarrisX survey polled 1,004 respondents, 431 of whom identify as Democrats or left-leaning Independents, between Dec. 27 and 28. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

^^^ That's a great strategy from Bloomberg. Stay out of the debates which no one is watching and plaster ads all over TV and Social Media instead.

I wish I'd read that article before I called it for Biden when forced to make a prediction by Jan 1, lol. I was almost going to name Bloomberg because he has always been my dark horse in this race, but I just couldn't see how he'd gain any ground if he remained in the shadows like he'd been doing.

He's definitely the one to watch.

Yang is dead in the water. He's only sticking around for the money rolling in still. The DNC have picked Biden for their candidate.

Yang like the rest of the Democrats is campaigning on giving away money.

Yang is definitely dead in the water.

A successful smothering campiagn by the MSM and the DNC has ensured this.

The guy never really stood a chance, but I think he will use the exposure he received to his advantage. I'm interested to see where he pops up next.

I'm just trying to figure this shit out like you are.
