RE: Allistair Overeem not made for fighting
he's not made for HW imo. His striking and even his grappling were pretty smooth in PRIDE, but at 260lbs he moves like a lump of shit.

His head is too small and fragile. He just can't take a hit.

Ctsar is right; he was best when he fought like a tall-lean Thai Fighter.

Once he beefed up on horse meat and started playing the heavyweight knockout game, his career went downhill.

RE: Allistair Overeem not made for fighting
he must've been 220-225ish in this fight, that's the ideal build for 'Reem imo.

I'm a firm believer in 'rock hard chin' theory.

You can start with a rock hard chin, but it gets chipped at, every time you get hit. This only happens at HW, and maybe occasionally at LHW (due to the extra force involved).

Once it is gone, it is gone. You can recover, to a certain extent, but never to 100%. Probably only to about 40%.

You see fighters get gunshy too, after big knockouts in their career. They know.

Chuck Liddell, Fedor, Overeem, Mark Hunt finally getting knocked out, after YEARS of it being literally impossible to knock him out.

Chuck is the most drastic case, his chin became non-existent virtually overnight. I think that in his case and in Fedor’s, drugs and alcohol abuse played a huge role in destroying their chins.

RE: Allistair Overeem not made for fighting
I thought he was fun to watch when he was beating everyone in Pride and winning K1 fights.

Of course, that's when he was at his enhanced physical peak. When he moved to the US and had to change his formula, he lost whatever it was he had.

He probably should have gone back to 205 when he couldn't get away with roids anymore. But the only reason that the UFC hired him was because of his size.
