They're protesting in my hood today. Over 2000 cops deployed. Might go take some pics later.

I don't know how I'm gonna get there. Roads are closed. All public transportation has been diverted. I could walk, but don't feel like walking outside in the muggy heat. Here's the live stream...

Aren't these protests like 20 years too late?

There were protests back then. There were protests 10 years ago. there were protests 5 years ago. HK loves to protest.

They wanted a quicker handover to the Commies, or what?

You NEVER hear about a HK independence movement in the west, so if I am acting as if no such thing exists, it is because I have never heard of it.

Shouldn't they try to ally with Taiwan (and possibly Japan) or something?

they def aren't fluoridating the water in HK. lots of pep over there.

imo China was under no obligation to follow "british law" after the handover

they acquired HK through DRUG PEDDLING...

but I guess they kept the freedoms to keep Hong kong as a portal to the west.

The China of 20 years ago, or even 5 years ago is not the China of today. Even EY who used to praise China for it's personal freedoms, had to move back to shithole Bay Area USA. I could leave too if SHTF. But if you have nowhere to go, I guess you protest?

I don't agree with them antagonizing the police though. At this point I think they just want to provoke the police to use excessive force on them so that it will make international news.

This is madness! This is at the mall near my house.

RE: 1 million people in Hong Kong protest Extradition Law
Shit's going down next sunday the 28th. Triads are involved. Last night a local pro-commie politician supposedly hired triad thugs to beat up protesters inside a subway station. The politician was caught on video shaking hands with some of the thugs and thanking them for their "hard work". Today protestors trashed his office.

Heard from van drivers today they, the triads, have been stocking up on weapons, including guns. Also heard that Beijing is waiting for the first police casualty before they take action. Interesting times ahead.
