A Case for Igor Vovchanchyn
Could Igor Vovchanchyn be in fact the NUMBER 1?

most fighters cut weight but Igor started out a smaller fellow which found himself fighting a Polar Bear which he dispatched with astonishing ability and then he quickly GAINED weight to fight the heavies KnockingOut MARK KERR!

Igor is 5'9 and fought the BIGGER MEN! Of course he was thick boned so he carried the 200lbs comfortably but he did not begin as a heavy and soon found himself facing the heavies.

So I make the case that he is the GREATEST of ALL TIME?

RE: A Case for Igor Vovchanchyn
using modern weight cutting he'd probably be a MW or a big WW

so by that yardstick he should be one of the top p4p fighters along with Sakuraba

problem with Igor was that he had a shitty ground game so he wasn't a complete fighter.

saku actually had standup skills.. he stole Vitor's soul with that spinning back kick

yeah his ground-game seemed to be lacking yet somehow he survived against the Smashing Machine. His kicking arsenal also seemed to be lacking for one defined as a kickboxer.

I think his was a unique Brawling Style of Herculean Creation. It is not something which can be taught. Like most GREATS, he was born with that gift.

Anyone can learn to punch, kick, grapple but not everyone can do what the GREATS do.

Igor is probably #1 of the NHB / bare knuckle era. He was burnout by 2001, Pride 12 was his 50th professional fight according to wikipedia.
