There we go. No ability for introspection, no ability to debate. Just play-dumb, pretend to laugh, push it out-of-sight and out-of-mind and go about being a caricature of an omega male.

yeah karasu does seem to infer his personal viewpoints.. however he seems to be able to take criticism pretty well

You act like a kid who would get pushed into a locker and pretend you thought it was funny, because real conflict would be too scary.

By this age, you must know that you can't solve every problem by smiling and playing dumb.

At first, I thought it was kind of a bit or an act, and was waiting to see the real Karasu behind the caricature, but if that's all you're really capable of I'm sorry.

and you really don't have to be sorry for me but thank you for your kind compassion and concern

I have suffered much worse in life than some negative internet assault....but still people should be careful their words because it's not cool to be a jerk, karma and all that.....and in my many defenses one will note it was always others calling me stupid, idiot, and other such things as I tried to take the HiGH ROAD in defending myself without returning their ugly insults and instead I just used humor Big Grin

There doesn't seem to be an alternative for him. He has one mode of behavior that he applies every circumstance.

Having a positive attitude and laughing off conflict is a Virtue, a character strength... unless that's all you're capable of, then it is nothing but a weakness.
Same thing goes with self-deprecation. It's great to be able to have the humility to laugh at yourself, but if that's all someone can do then it's a major character flaw.

I strongly suspect that this aloof attitude of Karasu's has been a life-long detriment to him.
How can you possibly gain the respect of your peers let alone a mate by pretending everything is a big joke?
Half of his threads seem like attempts re-frame his shortcomings as positive attributes.

This is verging on bullying so I'll stop, but I know I'm not the only one who sees this.

my view is that it's good to have a lot of viewpoints.. put it up there and let the reader decide

I do get what you are saying about karasu though.. but the good thing is he's not hostile about his attitudes.. and i agree with some of it and disagree with some of it as well

Some level of self-contempt is needed for personal growth.

Quote:And thus spoke Zarathustra to the people:

It is time for man to fix his goal. It is time for man to plant the seed of his highest hope.

His soil is still rich enough for it. But that soil will one day be poor and exhausted, and no lofty tree will any longer be able to grow there.

Alas! there comes the time when man will no longer launch the arrow of his longing beyond man -- and the string of his bow will have unlearned to whiz!

I tell you: one must still have chaos in oneself, to give birth to a dancing star. I tell you: you have still chaos in yourselves.

Alas! There comes the time when man will no longer give birth to any star. Alas! There comes the time of the most despicable man, who can no longer despise himself.

Lo! I show you the Last Man.

"What is love? What is creation? What is longing? What is a star?" -- so asks the Last Man, and blinks.

The earth has become small, and on it hops the Last Man, who makes everything small. His species is ineradicable as the flea; the Last Man lives longest.

"We have discovered happiness" -- say the Last Men, and they blink.

They have left the regions where it is hard to live; for they need warmth. One still loves one's neighbor and rubs against him; for one needs warmth.

Turning ill and being distrustful, they consider sinful: they walk warily. He is a fool who still stumbles over stones or men!

A little poison now and then: that makes for pleasant dreams. And much poison at the end for a pleasant death.

One still works, for work is a pastime. But one is careful lest the pastime should hurt one.

One no longer becomes poor or rich; both are too burdensome. Who still wants to rule? Who still wants to obey? Both are too burdensome.

No shepherd, and one herd! Everyone wants the same; everyone is the same: he who feels differently goes voluntarily into the madhouse.

"Formerly all the world was insane," -- say the subtlest of them, and they blink.

They are clever and know all that has happened: so there is no end to their derision. People still quarrel, but are soon reconciled -- otherwise it upsets their stomachs.

They have their little pleasures for the day, and their little pleasures for the night, but they have a regard for health.

"We have discovered happiness," -- say the Last Men, and they blink.

you would say it's defeatist?

I don't agree with him about the fitness thing. there is no doubt in my mind that a 40 year old dude that trains would be way more fit/agile than a 28 year old that just plays games and eats taki chili lime chips all day

with 10,000 hours you can get a to pro or semi-pro level for most fields imo

but to be GREAT and EXCEPTIONAL would require talent.

most people don't even make it to a true pro or semi-pro status anyways

also this: "I don't agree with him about the fitness thing. there is no doubt in my mind that a 40 year old dude that trains would be way more fit/agile than a 28 year old that just plays games and eats taki chili lime chips all day"-------pug thug

we in fact do not disagree on that point. a 28 year old which does not exercise will not be a fit 28 year old and a 40 year old which does exercise will be a fit 40.

I also agree with the author of that article(former kickboxing champion and UFC fighter) which discussed the realities of exercise and aging.

this was a really good post. I am happy that people do not agree with me 100% of times. Different perspective makes the world interesting. Sometimes I learn from a different perspective and it changes my thinking and perhaps another time some other person adopts my thinking about something.

also pug thug was right, I do infer my opinions but I like to use different methods to do that, like sharing articles as supporting data so it is not just some single opinion.

finally I do not really enjoy engaging in negative insulting arguments. Someone already mentioned how the "virtual tough guy" thing is like a form of road rage where people behave that way from their computers and also it seems how most people only act tough when the odds are in his favor but if the other fellow looks more menacing then he will turn chicken and that's not true courage.

so I prefer to endeavor to take the high-road which is not always easy nor does this infer that I have never had to show courage to defend myself from external or internal opponent in the physical dimension. I also believe in the wisdom found in the ancient teachings of religion like Christianity and Buddhism which advise a path of practice of peace, love, compassion in our attitude which I am not always successful but I try to make some effort in observing these attitudes of virtue

Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
