I was about be a weasel and say "but Roger Gracie" (who is only a Gracie by marriage) but then I looked up his record and saw that being widely regarded the GOAT of Gi BJJ, he went 0-1 in the UFC.

Kron executed the Demian Maia 101 strategy perfectly. The use of the cage, the leg-lace to back take, the body-triangle, and even the face-crank to get the RNC.

The problem is we've already seen where that strategy caps-out against top-level competition.

I had no idea Roger had fought in the UFC, thought he retired after King MO koed him in Strikeforce or something like that.

I actually remember watching his fight with Tim Kennedy in the UFC, so I just assumed he had like 3-4 more unremarkable UFC fights that were buried on the undercards. It turns out that was his only one.

I'm a total Jiujitsu dork, but not much of a fan of Roger or Kron. Roger was unbeatable for many years. Some people see beauty in the simplicity of his style,
but all I saw in his matches was a 7ft tall guy slowing every match down to a grinding halt.

Kron is very talented and entertaining, but was never and will never be among the legends. His skills fall short of being a reigning champion. He had two fantastic matches with Marcelo Garcia but lost both. And his personality... despite being the son of a Living God, he's just kind of an average LA Skater dude with funky yanomami eyebrows. Regression to the mean?

Well duh. To preserve his status of "Living God" of course.

what mean, though? Rickson is a mystery meat person and his mother is like half Japanese + something else. All of the us born Gracies are super boring personality wise except Rener who's a Rorion clone without the accent. but the breakdown videos they do are always interesting.
