he wasn't patient at first though. he shot for several desperate takedown attempts, Jackson had to correct that behavior in between rounds.

He wouldn't fight a 25 min war and survive the amount of punishment he sustained in their first fight if he was partying heavily and not training. His cardio and endurance were excellent through the championship rounds.

Very valid points. Patient wasn't the right term I should have said hesitant to engage as far as striking went. He did respond to Jacksons correction well and the take down came with ease after. I thought it was a pretty great performance over all.

Your point about the partying and lack of cardio and chin should be right on.
There are some types who can defy that though and still look good when the bright lights come on.
Most likely he was still training pretty intensely at some point but slacked more than he should and drank and did cocaine during fight camp. Im speculating a bit but full camp taking seriously this time would make a difference.
It also seemed he learned alot about Gus the first time and they had
a good game plan. I would def agree with the notion that Jones has a high fight IQ

Disappointing outing by Gus. Didn't look like he had evolved AT ALL since their last fight.

But it would also be interesting to see what happened in Jon Jones' corner, after Rd 2, if he maybe got a bit of... Mid-fight performance enhancing powder inhallation? Wouldn't be the first time Big Grin

I don't think that's the case with Jones though. He used to have cardio problems past rd2 early in his career. Like in the Bonnar and Shogun fights for example. It's amazing how good his cardio is now when you think about it, considering how big he is for 205. He figured that out either through his camp, or steroids. Had many fights go the distance since he first won the belt and you never see him slow down or gas.

I do agree about his fight IQ being very high though, what I meant was this fight wasn't the best example of that imo.

he devolved, if anything. we might be witnessing the long-term effects of the beating he took from Rumble Johnson. When Gus was on his knees getting pummeled I remember thinking he probably wont be able to beat Jones in a rematch after this. That was a life changing ass-whooping.

Turinibol and Mibolerone certainly enhance muscular endurance.
Gus looked like he improved even after Rumble vs DC and Blachowitz and especially against Texeira who took Jones the distance. I need to watch this one a few times for a complete analysis.

RE: Jon Jones tests positive again, gets insta-pardoned by USADA
I read a little about Mibolerone aka Cheque Drops in the comments section of JRE's Jeff Novitsky interview. It's pretty nuts, Supposedly a vet grade anabolic that was designed to disrupt the heat cycle in female dogs. Somehow it made it's way into the bodybuilding world for its ability to increase muscular strength and aggression for short periods of time. It's out of your system in 4 hours so it's very hard to detect in PED tests. Perfect for competition. It's also so strong one poster claimed CD are to steroids what cocaine is to baking soda lol. Mibolerone is apparently cut with Turinabol, so they think Jones was either sold the wrong substance or it was contaminated with trace amounts of Tbol. Hence the picogram amounts found in the test.
