RE: RIZIN 14 Floyd Mayweather vs Tenshin Nasukawa NYE
I've been thinking about this matchup lately. Just for the fun of it. It is just such a mad combination these 2 fighters. A 20 yo talent, a 40 yo worldchampion boxer, the weightdifference, the totally opposite fighting styles, the venue i could go on all day with this. It's just mad whatever way you'r looking at it.

From commercial perspective i get it, the asian fight market is big and for Floyd this means a new market, new fans and lot's of merchandise and commercial ads to be sold. He's just branding his name in Asia with this fight.

For Tenshin this is bridge to get himself introduced to the western world, he's got nothing to loose only to win. Also commercially interesting, and ofcourse beating Floyd as a 20yo is something of a liftetime. So motivation much..

But then from a fighting/martial arts perspective

WTF is this supposed to be? Why are these 2 matched to eachother? How is this possible? What is the leitmotiv except money and fame behind this?

My guess is that Tenshin is highly motivated and prepared to fight Floyd on whatever rules. He's young, eager, talented and skilled. A very dangerous opponent for Floyd.

Floyd is very skilled, experienced and is a boxer by nature, packs a good punch and is very slippery. A though oppononent for Tenshin with a different fight rythm than he has experienced before.

On boxing rules i expect to see Tenshin hang in there with Floyd for a couple of rounds but then Floyd will overcome him, by K.O. or points. -> just to much experience, to high stakes to take riscs for Floyd

On "kick"boxing rules, ie. Tenshin can use his legs: Floyd will have a tough fight as Tenshin (when he's smart) will destroy Floyds legs with lowkicks in a few rounds. If Floyd withstand that, he's winning the match

On MMA rules this will be a short fight with Tenshin choking floyd out in a matter of minutes

But i expect the fight to be fought with kicks for Tenshin, but no lowkicks. This will even the score a little because a punch is faster than a kick and Tenshin must bridge the gap between him and FLoyd, and you don't bridge gaps by kicking.. Dutch Muay Thai 101

So Tenshin needs to work hard and keep working Floyd if he wants to win this, otherwise Floyd will figure his rythm out and will knock out Tenshin

Some boxer vs Kickboxer matchups:

Boxer vs thaiboxer

Not a very good representation of this match up because the boxer came ill prepared and Alexey Ignashov is a Muay Thai beast. But interesting to see the breakdown

Boxing vs Muay Thai Fight - Somrak vs Yodwanpadet, Rajadamnern Stadium Bangkok - 2nd April 2015

2 thais fighting, one as a boxer
"Somluck is not a pure boxer. Although he won the Olympic Gold Medal in boxing, he was also a very accomplished Muay Thai fighter. Here, he agreed to not use his legs because Yodwanpadet was much older. In fact, the legendary Muay Thai fighter Saenchai was once known as Saenchai Sor Khamsing because he learned a lot of Muay Thai from Somluck."

Kaoklay vs Francoi Botha

Francoi Botha has beaten some world class K1 fighters, but also got viciously beaten by several

K1 2004 Botha vs Bonjasky

it will be less than a 1 round most likely in a legit fight where leg kicks are allowed

floyd has very thin legs relative to his upper body

RE: RIZIN 14 Floyd Mayweather vs Tenshin Nasukawa NYE
under kickboxing rules both fighters can use their available skillsets

Floyd can use kicks too remember

and boxers insist hands are the most important so they shouldn't care

the thing about it is that boxer's alert scope is much more narrow, while kickboxers have to contend with kicks, elbows and knees in addition to punches

that is why Floyd will never take full kickboxing rules

it's possible that it will be high kicks only. but even then it's dangerous. a MT guy's kick hurts even if you block it with your arm

^ Uhh is Chael sonnen deluded?

He claims that Tenshin does not have an illustrous kickboxing career

he beat LUMPINEE champs as a TEENAGER lol

his striking level overall is light years beyond floyd.

the question is if it's going to be a striking fight... ie hands and legs

if it's going to be crippled queensbury rules then yeah Tenshin isn't going to win

in a real standup fight, Tenshin wins easily, even giving up 20 lbs

Floyd trolls his own dad for TV ratings, so this isn't surprising.

what did I tell people? it was goign to be an exhibition fight

no way floyd would take a fight with Tenshin, arguably one of the best standup fighters in the world p4p

RE: RIZIN 14 Floyd Mayweather vs Tenshin Nasukawa NYE
is it possible that Rizin misled Floyd?

he agreed to an exhibition but Rizin sold it like it was a real fight?

it explains why Floyd looked so uncomfortable at the press conference

RE: RIZIN 14 Floyd Mayweather vs Tenshin Nasukawa NYE
have people seen tenshin nasukawa fight?

lol

he beat a LUMPINEE CHAMP as a wee teen!

that is the level of talent we are talking about

can floyd touch that?

Boxing rules are EXTREMELY limited with their no clinch rules and HIGH shorts with pads

with mma gloves and punches only nasukawa would win EASILY

Quote:According to Mayweather, a different plan for a private exhibition in front of a “small group of wealthy spectators” was in place – until the press conference, which Mayweather said was “misleading” in announcing the Nasukawa fight as an official bout.

So Floyd thought he was fighting a closed doors match in front a handful of Yakuza guys Kumite style? why the hell would he agree to that?

RE: RIZIN 14 Floyd Mayweather vs Tenshin Nasukawa NYE
I think there is a good chance that even in a 'pure boxing' fight Tenshin would have thrown a kick, while Mayweather is doing one of his boxing ducking/leaning feints, and Tenshin just calls it an accident afterwards.

And Mayweather realized he was possibly going to get BTFO. Embarassed, even without agreeing to any kicks.

^ I agree. Even if the fight was ruled a no-contest or DQ afterwards he'd still have gotten ktfo for the whole world to see. Lose Lose situation for Floyd.
