Cool vid. I lol'd at the Metalocalypse references and Backyard wrestling clips.

Keep posting these as they come out.

My favorite was the UFC 1 walkout song. It had that Top Gun, American Flag, Soaring Eagle, Super Nintendo feel.

RE: PRIDE vs UFC Vol. 1: The Music
this is the problem with the American music scene

it's all based on trends and what's in

that's why all these pop tracks from 90's sound so old

the metal stuff from the 90's sounds like a joke

maybe only GNR has held up in my estimation.. as they did their own thing

I like Pantera and AIC from the early 90s. Also RATM despite their communism.

I also like the original UFC theme. I know the feel you're talking about. America was at the peak of it's soft power in the 80s and early 90s . Tom Cruise imo epitomized this fantasy version of the US with Top Gun and Days of Thunder.

The video games of the time all had that feel too, blue skies, white clouds, red letters, 80s pop rock.

I'm impressed that there is away to express it musically. Myself, I think of the breakdown in Ted Nugent's Stranglehold. https://youtu.be/AlwLmyaa454?t=388. Something about harmonized electric guitar parts to military sounding snare-drum parts.

To me it seems timeless, but that's probably because 1/2 my childhood was spent playing video games. SNES Lockon was one of my favorites.

AIC was pretty good. I only remember Pantera's cowboys from hell album

the metal music from that era was good, but UFC chose to use NU-metal which was shit. it was a mix of the worst of heavy metal and the worst of pop

Pride was just class all the way

and this guy didn't mention the victory theme.. it was sad and glorious at the same time. it was written for both the loser and the winner. the agony of defeat along with the thrill of the victory

this was SEG UFC. they had more budo and were better

and this type of music is actually similar to what Pancrase and Shooto used back in the day. it's a generic type of MIDI rock music which IMO is pretty cool

the argument the guy makes in his vids are the same ones I have made for over 15 years.

I always labeled UFC the greasy spoon diner.

and is it true they are still using FACE THE PAIN? can they be this out of touch?

PRIDE intro could be the summer Olympics theme.

Face the pain could be the theme of Jackass.

best thing he said the entire video.

hahaha

I wonder if UFC owns the rights to the Pride theme song.

that's actually one of the best theme songs ever made.

it beats any of the world cup theme songs

the 2002 FIFA world cup theme song is a close 2nd to me

TIMELESS STUFF

RE: PRIDE vs UFC Vol. 1: The Music
the early to mid 2000s was still a time of great optimism

even though 9/11 happened there was still residual "good feelings" from the relatively peaceful and prosperous times of the 90's

in the mid 2000s PC culture was not yet that ingrained.. and you had a good mix of high tech internet along with the old analog ways

pride happened during this time.. and it happened at a time when people STILL CARED about shit

man I would stay up until like 3 am to hear some dude do a shitty PBP on paltalk

it was either that or not go on the forums for a few days until the Japanese video store got the tapes

you appreciated it.. this crap was not on demand. you had to WANT IT and GET IT

nowadays everyone is in their own filter bubble... so people are not appreciating the same things at the same time.

so it's pretty bad.. it just keeps getting worse and worse.. and i'm just like HEY WORLD.. HOW LOW CAN U GO?

i watch this RIZIN and it actually makes me feel bad. it's trying so hard to be Pride, but the spirit is just not there. takada looks tired.. they are getting all the has been fighters like GOMI, CROCOP. it's lame.
