Bellator will never get to the next level with expendable UFC talent.

Well, they have a small handful of their own stars; Michael Venom Page, Ben Askren, Justin Gaethje.

I'm often happy to see UFC burnouts over there too.

I think more than anything, they need to make the event 'feel' different from the UFC. Right now it feels like the grocery store knockoff of UFC Just Bleed flakes..

True, but the market is big enough now for Bellator to cash in enough on the popularity of MMA as well as having easily identifiable and iconic names from the UFC and the history of the sport.

It reminds me of the way other wrestling orgs like WCW and even ECW, were able to cash in on the popularity of the WWF (WWE now) and make a decent business model with "has been" WWF guys and some of their own characters. An old rule of marketing is that you can take 30% of someone's business just by opening a similar business and giving the market another option.

Bellator is a good model I think, as long as they position themselves as number 2 and accept that for what it is.

I'm just trying to figure this shit out like you are.

Askren hasn't been with Bellator in a long time. He has been fighting in OneFC. Now he is retired. Justin Gaethje was not in Bellator and he has been fighting in the UFC lately.
