Yeah, the Polynesians went to South America and brought sweet potatoes back to New Zealand, that's a fact.

Speaking of the ancient Americas, it's cool how there is a native-built tunnel connecting the center of Cusco, Peru, with the site miles away at Sacsayhuaman, Peru.

They did, it just wasn't in ancient times. It was in medieval times. Same time as the Pyramids were built (from primitive concrete).

RE: Did Egyptians make contact with ancient Mexico?
That's cool.

There is a story in Herodotus' ancient writings about the Egyptians sending a fleet that circumnavigated Africa, heading south from the Red Sea, going to South Africa, etc. over a three year period:
Quote:According to the Greek historian Herodotus, Necho II sent out an expedition of Phoenicians, which reputedly, at some point between 610 and before 594 BC, sailed in three years from the Red Sea around Africa to the mouth of the Nile. ...

The belief in Herodotus' account, handed down to him by oral tradition,[32] is primarily because he stated with disbelief that the Phoenicians "as they sailed on a westerly course round the southern end of Libya (Africa), they had the sun on their right – to northward of them" (The Histories 4.42) – in Herodotus' time it was not generally known that Africa was surrounded by an ocean (with the southern part of Africa being thought connected to Asia[33]).

RE: Did Egyptians make contact with ancient Mexico?
I am sure the 'Phoenicians' sailed around Africa.

It just wasn't in 600 BC.

"The first recorded appearance of the use of the compass in Europe (1190AD)"

Development of caravels took place around 1400 AD, which allowed sailing into the wind, and further from land (so you can sail through the night, without risk of shipwreck).

Before that it was galleys, meaning big ole rowboats with one large sail (and a smaller foresail).

The chronology simply doesn't make sense. Of course people who only know about the western Roman empire protest that it does, because of the collapse of that empire, but the eastern Roman empire didn't collapse until 1453 AD! So how would knowledge that was known to the western Romans be lost by the Eastern Romans?

It wasn't. The Jesuits developed a chronology that put the Western Roman empire on top of the heap, so to speak. To glorify the Papacy and the City of Rome, more or less.
