the problem is the SJW generation are the most brainwashed generation in human history

that might explain why you can't find any authentic music.

people are still worshiping the old guard while newer artists even with a huge internet following are struggling to get by

the thought control has gotten too great in the west, hence why western music sucks for the most part today

i bring up the asian rap, but honestly it's fresh. it's the freshest sound I've heard in years even if the content is a bit degenerate

this kind of stuff is the new rock n' roll.. complete with 666 lyrics

check out Rich Chigga.. more "lit" than any american rapper... he's a FOB from Malaysia

I don't even really like this type of music, but it's fresh and it sounds fresh. Can't say the same about corporate american rap and EDM garbage

Pop culture is DEAD. Radio is DEAD. MTV is DEAD.

You can't find authentic music because you aren't looking hard enough, or it's buried in mediocre crap. Or you haven't been to the right local music spot.

Music is going back to its roots. Juke joints and dive bars.

We're all listening to different things, everything entertainment-wise is becoming ala cart.
That's a good thing, IHMO.

Sturgill Simpson is only 39. Not exactly an old man.

age doesn't matter as much before. it used to be if you didn't get signed by 23 or so you wouldn't have a chance of making it

but I see many people debuting in their 30s these days.

there are also a lot of hidden geniuses that don't "come out" or aren't discovered until later.

in a way it's bad because you lack the shared collective experience.

if that shared collective experience was an artificial monoculture then it won't be missed.

the big record labels did produce good stuff

GNR, Bjork , radiohead etc.

certainly better than most indie stuff today

the main thing is you need TIME and MONEY to do music

if you have a day job the quality and inspiration will suffer

the big label system was better because it weeded out the dilletantes

if you were serious you got the gear and you went balls out to make it

now you can dabble and put stuff up on soundcloud and spotify.. lost in the sea of info

Probably in terms of a guy wearing leather standing in front of a Marshall Amp riffing and shredding being worshiped as a god. It won't be in the spotlight, but guitar isn't going away.

Guitar driven Ambient music came to mind.

Indie rock is also fading out, but that was very guitar driven. I guess it's too White for 2017.
