Fedor is still the greatest and will probably not be eclipsed.

A LHW ruled the HW division in undefeated fashion for 10 years.

There is no comparison, and a fighter ruling a division above their natural weight for so long will not happen again imo.

I guess it didn't matter whether we elected Clinton or Trump.

fedor is the best fighter ever, but sak is the greatest

we're talking about a 155 lb guy using current weight cutting standards that dominated LHWs and HWs.

UFCJ was back in the day when the UFC could operate freely in Japan without harassment from the Yakuza. When ZUFFA took control from SEG they were not allowed to set up shop in Japan, even after they bought Pride. It took 12 years before they could return to Japan and put on a show.

I always suspected it was these mafia boundaries that prevented Fedor from joining UFC under Zuffa too.

Sak was only 1-1 in UFC but he should still be in any mma hall of fame that exists.

It was also the bs Zuffa contract that was offered. The guaranteed money was only for a 1 fight deal (since Zuffa can terminate the contract at any time), and Fedor would have had to sign away his image and likeness.

I think a guaranteed multi fight deal and likeness rights were the 2 deal breakers.

I guess it didn't matter whether we elected Clinton or Trump.

Saku and Fedor will always be my two favorite fighters. Fedor was the greatest fighting machine ever to watch. However, Saku brought a level of soul unmatched in the sport. He was an entertainer and a warrior. He gave his body for the sport, to give us something amazing to watch and experience. God bless him.

RE: Kazushi Sakuraba is in the UFC hall of fame
Early after the ZUFFA takeover they appointed an American guy and set him up in an office in Japan. They attempted to build their base in Japan but the American guy was forced to fly home after a few months of constant threats and harassment to him and his family by Japanese mobsters. Then a few years later they would buy Pride when it was already going to end anyway. The Pride people got paid a fortune for the rights to their back catalogue and a few over the hill fighters. The final Pride show was named Kamikaze, and it was an in-joke against Zuffa (who had already agreed to buy it), because the Pride owners knew it was going to destroy itself when it got sold.

"kamikaze
ˌkamɪˈkɑːzi/Submit
noun
1.
(in the Second World War) a Japanese aircraft loaded with explosives and making a deliberate suicidal crash on an enemy target."

I'd also throw in Wandy, Big Nog and Crocop as PRIDE's all time top 5 greatest.

Sakuraba was a great fighter for sure and deserves to be honored for his accomplishments. The Gracie Hunter angle alone makes him legendary in the sport. His sense of humor was awesome. Remember the Royce fight and the 3-tap rule? Saku kept tapping twice to mess with Royce because of his silly rule.

RE: Kazushi Sakuraba is in the UFC hall of fame
the fact that he is a modern 155 lb guy that took out LHW greats like Quinton Jackson or Vitor is enough.

it doesn't matter how many times he got KOed after he went over the hill.. his legendary status is completely due to his initial pride run ending with his loss to Mirko. He was still in top form for the Mirko fight. after that he went downhill pretty quick.

Against people his own size, he was incredible. The fact that he even stepped into the ring with CroCop, or rematched Wanderlei when he knew he would get another beating, really shows his budo spirit.

I'm just trying to figure this shit out like you are.
