UFC Holds Major Events on Easter Weekends
This past Saturday, April 15, the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter, the UFC held a major event, UFC on Fox.

Was this an anomaly, or is the UFC getting in the habit of holding major events on Christianity's holiest weekend?

To find the answer, I compared the following two wikipedia sites, one showing the dates of Easter for the past twenty years, and one showing the major UFC events for the same period.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dates_for_Easter

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UFC_events

To give the UFC the benefit of the doubt, I have considered only the western date for Easter, not the eastern orthodox date, in years when the two dates have differed.

My research reveals that the UFC has held major events on the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter during five years, as follows:

2006, April 15, UFC 59
2007, April 7, UFC 69

2014, April 19, UFC on Fox
2015, April 4, UFC Fight Night
2017, April 15, UFC on Fox

So, during three of the past four years, the UFC has held a major event on Christianity's holiest weekend.

Likely suspect number one, the UFC's chief operating officer, Ike Lawrence Epstein.

I have not found a press release specifying the exact date of his appointment to this current position, but it appears to have been approximately in late 2013 or early 2014.

Possible suspect number two, in particular with respect to the two UFC on Fox events:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/will-ufc-su...19676.html

"The biggest acquisition in sports history, WME/IMG’s $4 billion-plus purchase of the UFC, was announced on July 11 with a 950-word press release.

There was no news conference. There was no conference call. There was no explanation of the new owners’ vision for the world’s leading mixed martial arts promotion, nor any discussion of its plans for its shiny, new property.

. . . A Yahoo request for an interview with Ari Emanuel, the co-CEO of WME, was denied.

The UFC’s television deal with Fox – which Emanuel helped it negotiate in 2011 – expires at the end of 2018."

Tribal owners and commissioners in the National Basketball Association (NBA) have committed similar sacrilege, holding numerous games on Christmas Day, once even starting a strike shortened season on Christmas, as though it would have been unthinkable to wait a mere one day and start the season on December 26th!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_B...tmas_games

"As a result of a lockout in 2011, Christmas Day was also the season opener."

very good insight.

UFC seems to be an arm of the mind control program.

They pushed WMMA artificially to get girls into fighting and acting like men.

Excellent analysis RB. Tribal ownership seems to be taking things to new sacrilegious levels. The UFC will be a highly effective culture-coarsening instrument in the hands of these professionals.

The general coarsening of the culture and normalizing of violence is right in the UFC wheelhouse as well. I'm afraid we were all duped into supporting this stuff.

McCain it seems was right for once.

they stripped the martial arts aspect from the sport effectively making it literally extreme wrestle box fighting.

Going mainstream with it is bad all around though. Bad for society, bad for the martial arts. In hindsight letting it operate semi underground in regulatory backwaters like Alabama and Mississippi and letting the yakuza in Japan run the big leagues was a lot better than what we have today. It really isn't appropriate to have as a mainstream sport.
