Trump's man Flynn resigns over Russia blackmail scandal
Not good for Trump, a ch!nk in the armor, no fake news here. Could this bring the whole house of cards tumbling down?

Quote:Trump security adviser Flynn quits after leaks suggest he tried to cover up Russia talks

The departure of Trump’s national security adviser is the most dramatic development yet to hit the president’s chaotic administration

The US national security advisor, Michael Flynn, resigned late on Monday night amid a flow of intelligence leaks that he had secretly discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador to Washington and then tried to cover up the conversations.

The resignation, with the Trump era less than four weeks old, is the latest and most dramatic convulsion in the most chaotic start to an administration in modern US history.

It was far from clear whether Flynn’s departure would steady an inexperienced and feuding White House, or resolve the lingering suspicions about the Trump team’s pre-election contacts with the Kremlin.

The White House issued a statement just after 11pm in Washington announcing the resignation, shortly after reports broke that the Trump administration had been warned weeks ago that Flynn might be vulnerable to Russian blackmail.

The statement also named retired army general Joseph Kellogg, who goes by his middle name Keith, as acting national security advisor, pending the appointment of a permanent successor. It was reported that a third general, former CIA director, David Petraeus, was due to meet Trump on Tuesday.

But Petraeus has legal issues of his own. He is currently nearing the end of two years probation for sharing classified information with his biographer and lover, Paula Broadwell.

In his resignation letter, Flynn claimed he had mistakenly misled vice-president Mike Pence and other Trump officials about the nature of phone calls in December to the Russian ambassador, Sergei Kisilyak. When intelligence leaks about the communications began appearing last month, Pence and other White House officials insisted that the contact had only involved an exchange of Christmas greetings and arrangements for a future phone conversation between Trump and Vladimir Putin.

However, subsequent leaks suggested that they had been more substantial, and concerned sanctions the Obama administration was about to impose on Moscow for interference in the presidential elections. Intelligence officials claimed that Flynn had given the impression the sanctions might be lifted once the Trump administration came to office on 20 January.

“In the course of my duties as the incoming national security advisor, I held numerous phone calls with foreign counterparts, ministers, and ambassadors,” Flynn said in his resignation letter. “These calls were to facilitate a smooth transition and begin to build the necessary relationships between the president, his advisors and foreign leaders. Such calls are standard practice in any transition of this magnitude.”

“Unfortunately, because of the fast pace of events, I inadvertently briefed the vice president elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the president and the vice president, and they have accepted my apology.”

Russian politicians offered a fierce defence of Flynn. Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the foreign affairs committee at the upper chamber of the parliament, said in a Facebook post that firing a national security adviser for his contacts with Russia is “not just paranoia but something even worse”.

Kosachev’s counterpart at the lower chamber of the Russian parliament, Alexei Pushkov, tweeted shortly after the announcement that “it was not Flynn who was targeted but relations with Russia”.

Interesting that CIA information outlet CNN was given the story first. This civil war could really end with Trump dead.

Did Trump really think he could run the country as a civilian?

He's desperately trying to align himself with powerful people though, it will be interesting to see how it plays out. He is a master strategist and natural winner, but he's never really played at this level before.

They'll try to turn Trump if they can but he is a proud and a very stubborn man and derailing their plans for global nuclear holocaust is a very serious matter. I believe they'll kill him.

The Neocons and the 'deep state' have neutered the Trump Presidency, it’s over folks!

‘Less than a month ago I warned that a ‘color revolution ‘ was taking place in the USA. My first element of proof was the so-called “investigation” which the CIA, FBI, NSA and others were conducting against President Trump’s candidate to become National Security Advisor, General Flynn. Tonight, the plot to get rid of Flynn has finally succeeded and General Flynn had to offer his resignation. Trump accepted it.

Now let’s immediately get one thing out of the way: Flynn was hardly a saint or a perfect wise man who would single handedly saved the world. That he was not. However, what Flynn was is the cornerstone of Trump’s national security policy. For one thing, Flynn dared the unthinkable: he dared to declare that the bloated US intelligence community had to be reformed. Flynn also tried to subordinate the CIA and the Joint Chiefs to the President via the National Security Council. Put differently, Flynn tried to wrestle the ultimate power and authority from the CIA and the Pentagon and subordinate them back to the White House.’

Like Redneck said Trump is aligning himself with powerful people.

The real world doesn't work like a Hollywood movie where one hero can save the world by kicking everyone's ass. Trump needs some bloodsuckers on his side if he wants to get anything done.

If Trump drama has you stressed it's worth pointing out that an aggressive opening bid is a deal making tactic that Trump wrote about.

The next 4 years won't be the firestorm of executive orders and Twitter drama we've seen in these first few weeks. Trump will go from annihilating the establishment to slapping them around while letting them think they've toned him down.

It's also not outside the realm of possibility that a negotiator like Trump is making opening moves he knows the reactionary left will strike down so he can get what he really wants in the 2nd round of negotiations while making it look like a compromise. It will be interesting to see who Flynn's replaced with.

this is a very bad look for Trump as it makes it look like he has no control over his administration.

the guy that may replace him is Petraeus.

Hillary deletes thousands of emails and uses a private email server and somehow she is fit to be POTUS.

Flynn had some calls with Russians that he didn't talk about and that causes him to resign. Something is up.

This is a very bad look for Trump. Makes him look like he can't control the ship

You have Obama strongholds left in this administration. It is high treason.

First, we lose a Navy SEAL because AL QAIDA was TIPPED OFF about the operation. This raid was planned by Obama, and I'm sure he tipped off his jihadi friends.

The real scandal here is that the surveillance state wire tapped a private citizen and leaked to the public.

Trump needs to pull a Reagan flight controllers part 2

remember when Obama told Medyvev off mic that he would "be more flexible"in his 2nd term.

this is way worse than what Flynn had supposedly done. I'm thinking they have other dirt on him and just used this as the official excuse.

RE: Trump's man Flynn resigns over Russia blackmail scandal
I think Flynn just said 'Fuck this shit' facing the prospect of going under the media microscope every time something like this was leaked, even though it was nothing.

I don't imagine Trump wanted it at all. I'd like to think there's a bigger game at hand, but who knows?

Oh, and here's a good response to the Kristol Tweet I posted earlier. I hope these fuckers start to realize it. When you get too out of touch with the common man, the common man strings you up once in a while and gets new leaders. We're at that point now.
