I just never got this guy.. It's just crazy how he's held up as some type of legend.. when it's very obvious to even an untrained ear his delivery is PHONY and INAUTHENTIC

every article about his blatant plagiarism is an APOLOGY PIECE. it's hilarious

if it were anyone else they'd be grilling the shit out of them

but with BOB it's just "tradition" and "lifting form the legends to create new forms"

BOOLSHEET

when you pay homage to old classics you make it known.. and you make sure the reference is obvious and intentional. with Bob it just seems like he's trying to pass that shit off as his own.. elementary grade rephrasing

it could be possible that Dylan is so famous and idolized because he is flawed.. people feel close to him.. and some of that fakeness the avg. merican identifies with that?

who knows.

when I hear Townes van Zandt, I hear something REAL.. and i'm like how come Dylan is 100x more famous?

this dude is real.

The perfect word to describe Robert Zimmerman is clown.

In the song American Pie Don McLean described Bob Dylan as the court jester who becomes the revolutionary leader.

Like a phony pied-pier.

Mr. Tambourine by the Byrds was a jab at Bob Dylan.

it's not exactly that he has to be a plagiarist, he chooses his words deliberately, as a program for all the NPCs to regurgitate.

Love him or hate him, Miles Mathis did a really good piece on what a fraud Dylan is. He also did a cross reference between Dylan and Paul Simon to definitively show that while Simon's rhyme, meter and word choice over the years indicate that one person was writing his songs, Dylan's varies so wildly over his career that it really stretches the imagination. In fact, the entire Blood on the Tracks album matched Leonard Cohen's rhyme, meter and word choice almost verbatim and very likely could have been ghost written by him. Regardless, Dylan likely has used lots of ghost writers over the years, ghost writers who have written solidly constructed and poetic songs that Dylan has gone on to completely butcher with his terrible singing. What a crock.

terrible singing is fine.. if it's authentic and heartfelt. you hear it sometimes in punk rock, bad singing that works

there is just nothing genuine about the dude, yet if you question this dude in music circles it is considered sacrilege

I like a lot of the research Mathis does, but disagree with some of his conclusions. For example, he does not think there is actually such a thing as the occult, which is really quite shocking for someone who has done as much historical research into people obsessed with the occult as he has.

He also sometimes pads his 'research' by going on tangents. Not the worst, basically stream of consciousness research at times.

That song "Neighborhood Bully" that Jho posted is probably indicative of Zimmerman's actual song-writing skills.
