Totally agree. They put rumours out to see how the public would react. That's as far as it's going to go.

Well... we were dead wrong. They made it official this morning...

RE: Conor VS Diaz 2 just LOL
Conor McGregor just committed career suicide. He should have asked for the dos Anjos fight, or even took the Diaz fight at 155.

Dana White: Conor McGregor was 'obsessed' with Nate Diaz rematch

Quote:White says that he attempted to persuade McGregor to abandon that plan and move back to the featherweight division where he could defend his title for the first time, but he was having none of that idea.

In fact, McGregor not only wanted the rematch with Diaz but he insisted on the fight taking place at 170 pounds just like the first bout at UFC 196.

"Obviously, Lorenzo and I tried to argue with him and say 'let's go back down to 145 an defend your title' or if you really want the Diaz fight that bad, do it at 155. He wants the fight at 170," White said.

"Even his coach, coach (John) Kavanagh tried to get him off this rematch and off the 170 pound fight, but it's what he wanted."

I think it's good and I respect him more. The man wants a real challenge.

he already went up 2 weight classes and did great in the 1st round.

if he wins this time around he gets back all his glory and 10x more.

He will beat Nate. bet on it.

the last fight was down to poor conditioning.

in the 1st round fresh to fresh, Conor DESTROYED Diaz.

RE: Conor VS Diaz 2 just LOL
The UFC is hinging a lot on their boy McGregor being able to pull this off. If he had gone back down to the paperweights again, he could have redeemed himself and dismissed the loss to Diaz as a one off thing at a much heavier weight class. By taking a rematch, he puts himself under huge pressure to perform. His stock will be irreparably damaged if he loses again to Diaz, and no one will care to watch him in any weight class.

I have heard that the real reason he wants the rematch is that he never wants to fight at 145 again. The dumb thing is that he was originally fighting for the 155 championship, which he may have won, but now he's side tracked into taking on middle ranked fighters in the 170 division.

I'm just trying to figure this shit out like you are.

I could tell this from his attitude at the Post-Fight Presser after losing to Nate.
He kept half-heartedly saying that he probably had to go back to 145, but you could see in his eyes that he was fixed on beating a 170lber. I thought management would talk him out of it, but it's in his Irish heritage to fantasize about Giant-Slaying.

It's probably much easier not having to cut weight and even being able to bulk up to 170. It's likely his natural fighting weight. Why starve yourself?

Because everybody's starving themselves now. If you don't, you're a very little guy come fight night.

We'll see what happens, but I think 2 back to back losses to Nate will take away Conor's shine.

His schtick was running his mouth. How's he going to do that against a guy who just put him away?

Report: Zuffa in ‘Advanced Talks’ to Sell UFC; Winning Bid Could Total $3-4 Billion

By Sherdog.com Staff May 10, 2016
Ultimate Fighting Championship parent company Zuffa LLC is in “advanced talks” to sell the UFC, according to a report from ESPN.com.

ESPN reports that at least four companies have submitted bids to purchase the Las Vegas-based organization, and that the UFC’s final valuation could land between $3.5 and $4 billion.

The bidders reportedly on the short list of potential purchasers are: Blackstone Group, an American corporation based in New York City; China Media Capital, a state-backed venture capital firm based in Beijing; WME/IMG, a management company which represents numerous athletes, including former UFC champion Ronda Rousey; and Dalian Wanda Group, a Chinese conglomerate which last year purchased Hollywood’s Legendary Entertainment for a rumored $3.5 billion.

ESPN’s sources marked Dalian Wanda as the front-runner in the bidding to purchase UFC, which Zuffa acquired from Semaphore Entertainment in 2001 for only $2 million.

Dave Sholler, UFC vice president of public relations and athlete marketing, declined to comment on the rumored sale.

“As a private company, we don’t discuss speculation or rumors related to our business,” Sholler told ESPN.

UFC does not publicly reveal financial information. However, UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta in December told CNN that the company took in approximately $600 million in gross revenue in 2015.
