RE: UFC 195 Condit v Lawler, Arlovski v Miocic
Condit landed more volume. Got punished for his crappy -> -> HP+HK dash atttacks in Rd2 and Rd3, then mauled Lawler in Rd 4. By Rd 5 Condit had no gas; he landed plenty of combinations but did 0 damage.

Lawler is a good fighter, he wasn't intentionally conserving energy or trying to game the system. He was fighting a tall, awkward, frustrating opponent and kind of regressed to his mid 2000's style of eating pot shots while winging full-arm bombs.

It was like the total opposite of the first Hendricks fight. In that one he was parrying punches like it was a casual game of sticky hands and landing dozens of short hooks on Hendricks, but lacked his raw KO power and didn't do much damage.

^ good analysis

Robbie didn't know how to deal with Condit's unorthodox "movement" fighting style and was looking for that one big bomb

He had no strategy because under fair judging he should have lost. that was a shitty decision. not a robbery, but it wasn't correct

lol @ he wasn't intentionally conserving energy.

go watch his hendricks fights and both rory fights.

he is one of the most intentional episodic fighters out there. why do you think he always has a strong 5th/last round?

and he's not high volume throughout the fight.

you simply do not have good observational skills.

Robbie's actually a very basic fighter.

he is 90% hooks to the head. he doesn't even go to the body. he doesn't really kick/knee/elbow. how does such a basic fighter keep competing and winning at the highest level?

he has several great things. a deceptively strong chin(nick diaz fight was an exception). outlier KO power. pretty good timing. AND prob the best at energy management. he won that 2nd Hendricks fight with the 5th round. He won the first rory fight in the 3rd round. took 2nd round off. he won the last Rory fight in the 5th round swing. The Condit fight once again in the face of defeat, he stole a victory with a strong 5th round.

does he have better cardio than Rory or Condit? Nope. look at their volume through whole fight. He simply manages his output better.

^ your whole analysis falls apart when you take into account how UFC judges fights

Robbie knew he was losing, that's why he went all out in the 5th. even the commentators said he had to FINISH in order to retain the title.

My point is if he had that sense of urgency earlier, he could have finished Condit. The fact he won is entirely due to UFC's corruption. Lawler is more marketable than Condit, who has a cookie cutter personality.

no the most important round is the 5th round.

Robbie won the only way he could in this fight. Condit is a bad style match-up for him. with way more tools standing and a yes a better gas tank. Lawler will try to win the close rounds with his spurts. and let Condit win the wide margin rounds expending his energy.

then swing the last round.

it's an absolute strategy on his part and it's worked well for him since his return. the close round 3rd, goes to the Champ.

Isn't it crazy that almost 100% of fighters have to cut 10-20 lbs to even be competitive, and 3 years ago you had to be doing TRT or better to keep up.

Looking forward to OneFC's next show.

damage done is irrelevant, lawlor looks worse imo, factor in octagon control and total strikes landed, its not even close

That's got to be an awful feeling knowing you're the better man and now your chances are almost zero at a rematch.

proven again tonight. Although I think a draw vs Cerrone would've been fair.
