Andrew Yang to launch a third party

The presidential candidate turned New York City mayoral hopeful is no longer identifying as a Democrat.

Former presidential and New York mayoral candidate Andrew Yang is set to launch a third party next month, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Yang is expected to start the party in conjunction with the Oct. 5 release of his new book, "Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy."

It’s not clear what the name of Yang’s third party will be or how he plans to deploy it in 2022 or 2024. Yang and his team did not respond to requests for comment.

But the book’s publisher, Crown, did give some clues about the type of platform Yang may pursue. It writes that the book is an indictment of America’s “era of institutional failure” and will introduce “us to the various ‘priests of the decline’ of America, including politicians whose incentives have become divorced from the people they supposedly serve.”

Yang's 15 minutes were up when he

1) Shilled the UBI idea to the masses, which then conveniently got introduced by the Biden admin as "Economic Impact Payments".

2) Dropped out of the election and endorsed Biden, the most opposite candidate to his own policies and values.

3) Took a job with Fake News CNN.

he's a shill

UBI I still think is a good idea but it's not implemented that well, esp. in the form of EDD

It will probably be the perfect party for commies like Bernie Sanders and AOC.

I'll see what comes out before forming an opinion on his LEADERSHIP. Has there been any indication of IMMORALITY and CORRUPTION? CHEATING on his WIFE or hanging out with NEFARIOUS VILLAINS?

so far I just mostly know him as the Math Guy which advocates some UBI and HealthCare for the peasants which I'm not convinced is a terrible ideaTongue

don't watch CNN so no idea what he's saying there. Don't watch FOX either.....my conscience is CLEAR.......DOUBLE CLEAR Big Grin

RE: Andrew Yang to launch a third party - Count Iblis - 09-11-2021 02:35 PM

During the debates he struck me as a follower not a leader.

Andrew "I'm Asian so I'm good at Math" Yang.

He made a few other cringeworthy Asian stereotype jokes as well.

He seems to be slightly on the spectrum. Lacks self awareness at times.

Yang got a lot of criticism during his mayoral race. He didn't seem committed to some of his beliefs.

Andrew Yang is a leading NYC mayoral candidate — and the biggest flip-flopper

RE: Andrew Yang to launch a third party - Redneck - 09-11-2021 08:29 PM

He's probably hoping that the fame and recognition he got by running for President will make him a popular candidate for NY Mayor.

I don't know much about NY, but it seems to me that you have to be corrupt, and have mob connections, to do well in NY politics.

Either that or you have to be seen as a hard ass who won't take any shit from the mob.

Yang meets neither criteria.

Yang's new party will be called 'The Forward Party'

Yang's new party will be called 'The Forward Party'

Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang's new third party will be called "The Forward Party," he reportedly says in his upcoming book.

Business Insider reported that the name was revealed near the end of Yang's book entitled "Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy."

The book also details the principles that will guide Yang's party, including "ranked-choice voting and open primaries," "fact-based governance" and "human-centered capitalism." It will also promote a "universal basic income," an idea that helped him gain some traction in the 2020 presidential primary.

Yang also criticizes the "duopoly" of America's two-party system which he claimed was not made to handle the "cascade of crises" that the U.S. has recently endured, Business Insider said.

"The dysfunction is going to kill us," Yang says in the book, according to Business Insider. "Worse, there's no reason to think that it will change. The two sides will be trapped in a war that both sides win—they will still be hovering in one of the most affluent areas in the country trading power—but the people will lose."

After his failed 2020 presidential bid, which survived longer than some more established candidates, Yang unsuccessfully vied to be New York City's mayor.

His book is scheduled for release on Oct. 5.

Why is the media referring to it as the Third party, as if he's the only other party to the Democrats and the GOP?

The Libertarians and the Greens might have something to say about that. Not to mention the dozens of other political parties.

The name Forward party sounds so backward.
