I broke my hollywood boycott to watch this today. The Bruce Lee scene takes place in Brad Pitt's imagination. Movie kinda sucked though. Tarantino has lost a step.

yeah but it still makes bruce look dumb as fuck

Bruce should be an untouchable.

would they do this to Muhammad Ali?

the saddest thing to me is how much Tarantino has fallen as a writer. wtf. I won't post spoilers, but these guys are correct:

Tarantino has nothing to say anymore which is why his movies seem to drone on unchanging until a desperate twist or shocking violence happens. It's schizophrenic filmmaking that reveals that substance is injected, not properly built into conclusions and reveals. His concepts are too simple but the budgets are sky-high and the actors AAA list so millions will continue to watch these movies that they don't really like then spend the next year trying to convince themselves that they "got it" and liked it.

Regrettably, Once Upon a Time is yet another morally idiotic, stylistically tired, structurally undisciplined and thematically cliched jerk-off of a film from aging narcissist Tarantino. Overblown accents, overplayed character types, distasteful violence and disappointingly dull dialogue plague this Death Proof-caliber clunker. Perhaps somebody should tell this man to retire already at flick number 9. One thing’s for sure: the days of Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are long gone. Collapse

the world has gone mad, they are now criticizing Tarantino for not giving enough lines to WOMEN

Quote:A New York Times reporter, in a recent interview with Quentin Tarantino, implied that the director had made a deliberate choice not to give Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie more lines in his latest release, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Tarantino responded, “Well, I just reject your hypotheses.”

Whether or not you accept Tarantino’s implicit argument that he had no choice when it came to scripting the character of Sharon Tate, it is certainly the case that, historically, female characters in his films have had fewer lines of dialogue than their male counterparts.

We watched all 10 of his feature-length films and counted how many lines of dialogue were spoken by male and female characters in each. Before watching, we created a set of rules for what exactly would count as a line:

a “line” had to be at least three words long (e.g., “stop!” did not count as a line)
narration voice-overs counted so long as they hit the word cutoff
off-screen dialogue counted so long as it hit the word cutoff
We decided to count while watching the released films themselves rather than counting lines from scripts, as what was said on-screen often differed significantly from the script. For example, in the Reservoir Dogs script, there is a waitress who has a few lines in the famous diner opening scene, but in the actual scene, the waitress seems to have been cut entirely.

Quote:The Bruce Lee-Cliff Booth fight scene has become one of the film’s biggest points of controversy since “Hollywood” opened July 26. Bruce Lee’s daughter and protégé have spoken out against Tarantino for his portrayal of the martial arts and acting legend in the scene, while Bruce Lee actor Mike Moh has admitted he was conflicted at first about taking on the part as written. The Bruce Lee fight was originally much longer, but Pitt helped reshape the moment to better honor Lee’s legacy.

this was probably strategically done to create hype for the film

throw an asian icon under the bus for HYPE and $$$$$$

so MERICAN!

How did you feel about The Hateful Eight, EY? IMO that was treating white Americans just like how he seems to be treating Bruce Lee and Asians (Asian-Americans). Although I haven't seen this one (nor am I likely to).

could there be a CONSPIRACY here? Bruce Lee is the PINNACLE of China Cool and an inspiration to potential. China has become a threat. Media has ALWAYS been a useful tool of manipulation.

What's the Current International Friction making the Headlines: TRADE WARS

solution? Propaganda

Brad Pitt = USA MAGA . Bruce Lee = China Rising

maybe possible, but really probably just a silly popcorn film which the masses will enjoy as the Best Film Ever for 5 minutes until the next thing comes along.

For sure there is anti-white/European garbage everywhere in the US but at the same time almost all of the POSITIVE portrayals of people are also of white people in general.. so to me it's not as grave a concern

look at all the models, musicians, top actors all white guys/white girls!

You have to be a leftist, self-hating white person, in order to be famous though.

Look at all the hassle Chris Pratt got for wearing a friggin' American Revolutionary War reference t-shirt!
