JIU JITSU TIMES:

In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Your Ego Is One Of Your Most Important Tools On The Mat

one of the few MAs that teach you to ACTIVELY EMBRACE YOUR EGO

From that article:

Quote:When most people start training, they are told that they should check their egos at the door. They are told that they need to abandon their ego in order to transcend their current lack of understanding, that abandonment of the ego is crucial to development on the mat. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.

This is the norm. Embracing your ego is just this one dude's opinion.

ego's come in the game AFTER you received your training, been humbled and truelly understand WTF you are doing in the gym. And even then it is more ancient warrior spirit like to behave modest and keep perfecting your skills instead of dominating some newbee and feel invincible
