It's the exact opposite of the West, where ordinary citizens get sent to prison for petty theft, while the elites are above the law

governing is actually very simple. If you set one high profile example.. the rest fall in line.

like they shut down megaupload and arrested Kimdotcom.. the 100s of others sharing sites got in line automatically.

if they were to jail a few banksters and high level fraudsters.. they could clean things up FAST. but they choose not to do it because everyone has dirt on each other.. and possibly secret oaths.

Dong do you ever go to any of the Chinatowns in Toronto?

RE: Chinese Culture. Movies. Music. Food. Here. - DONG JOHNSON - 05-07-2013 03:44 PM

yeah man. it's not as bad as you described. Most clubs are along spadina. it's a nice neighborhood. there are way worse neighborhoods downtown.

Oh, no doubt it's better than a lot of alternatives.

I was just comparing Asian neighborhood vs Asian neighborhood.

Spadina chinatown, and also Broadview chinatown, are hardly Chinese anymore.

"People crowding around a gold products counter jockey for position to pick up something in a gold store which sold its products at a price of 299 yuan per gram in a promotion – about 50 to 70 yuan lower than the normal level, in Jinan city, East China's Shandong province on June 11, 2013. The promotion attracted nearly 10,000 people who rushed to the store despite restricting each customer's shopping time to 15 minutes. While gold markets in the US and Europe saw panic selling, China has just seen a surge in gold sales in the past few months. Chinese households came under the spotlight with their generous purchase of the gold products amid a global fall of the gold price."

"China’s superrich, who have historically been drawn to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Vancouver, B.C., are investing in Seattle-area real estate in growing numbers, buying multimillion-dollar homes, rent-producing properties and land for commercial development.

In the process, they are accelerating the real-estate market’s recovery, sometimes edging out other buyers with all-cash offers, and deepening ties between Seattle and China.

While exact numbers are hard to obtain, local real-estate agents, bankers and China experts say there’s been a definite increase over the past year of rich Chinese nationals shopping for homes here, mostly on the Eastside."

yeah.. China is aiding the housing recovery for sure.

They buy houses CASH. COLD HARD CASH MONEY

this isn't just a few isolated people either.. it's a lot of people. China's growth has spread the wealth amongst many.

Even the poorest in China are 10-20x better off today than they were just 20 years ago.

"A Chinese woman almost lost her life savings recently when termites invaded a wooden drawer in which she kept a plastic bag containing 400,000 yuan: the equivalent of $65,000 U.S. dollars.

It was only after the woman decided to redecorate her house in Guandong Province that she noticed the termites had dined on her nest egg. According to the Guangzhou Daily, the money was given to the woman by her children.

A local bank generously scanned the remaining cash and was able to identity 340,000 yuan which means the termite's meal ultimately cost the woman roughly $9,786."
