1960's Bruce would be, of course.

But if he was young now, with the same mind-set that he had then, he would have the physical and mental tools to become highly adept at it.
He would absorb modern techniques and training tools like a sponge.

Still to this day I have not seen anyone move like Bruce.. not even Anderson Silva.

Fluid yet Firm. Ultra sharp attack and snap.

there is no doubt he'd be like a super version of Kid yamamoto if he were in MMA today.

Bruce Lee is the FATHER OF MMA. He laid down the theoretical foundations.

if you think about it.. MMA is kind of like Masonry..

MASONIC MARTIAL ARTS?

I think bruce was promoted because he abhorred tradition and dogma.. he sought to break down on all the myths.. but what's funny is a lot of the TMA stuff works.. esp. Japanese TMA.

love those clips.

There will never be another bruce lee. I think the guys today just can't be as cool as before.

even James Dean, Paul newman are much cooler than the current crop of manlets.

MASONIC MARTIAL ARTS?

Gracie JJ is full of masonic symbolism, I suspect that Helio (The Sun) and Carlson, were Freemasons, and the current generation of Gracie men probably are as well. In Japanese JJ you become a 1st Dan, 2nd Dan, 3rd Dan etc. In GJJ you become a 1st Degree, 2nd Degree, 3rd Degree.

The Gracies are always talking about how they came from Scotland.

Helio believed that certain letters contain powers, which is why he named all of his kids with names starting with R, and some other letters that he says are magical, like K.

yeah. I think the gracies are part of some para-masonic lineage.

I don't think Bruce lee was a mason, but one of the reasons he was popularized because he was anti-tradition.

i still like him though.

^^^ I don't think Bruce was a mason either. He was just a dedicated martial artist.

his antitradition about martial arts had a point though.. a lot of those chinese martial arts were not field tested and DID NOT WORK.

it would make sense to mix and match diff. styles and techniques if your goal is to win a street fight.

In a way, he took the art out of martial art, and made it more effective. Some traditional Chinese and Japanese styles include a lot of bullshit dancing type katas, with virtually no physical contact unless it's choreographed, and it can literally take years before you learn anything that you could use in a fight. Bruce's JKD cut through all the bullshit, and you could start using it effectively after a relatively short time. People like Kano had already done this with Judo, which cut to the chase compared to learning Ju Jitsu.

People say "why didn't they have martial arts in the west?"

MARTIAL ARTS = arts of Mars, the God of War (learnt that from a book I read, and felt dumb afterwards for not realizing it sooner)

That is what gladiator duels were. That is what wrestling competitions were. That is what jousts were. That is what pankration was.

I don't know if you guys have seen these armored MMA bouts that they have held, in Russia (and maybe Eastern Europe?). But they have held a few melees, not just 1 v 1s. And it is pretty obvious that a wrestling style take down is one of the quickest ways to gain a massive advantage in the contest.

As soon as the enemy is taken down, one of your buddies would come over and stab him. Of course the back of your own head is extremely vulnerable at this time too.
