A 16-year-old Virginia girl is facing child pornography charges, after police say she posted photos of herself naked on Twitter.

Authorities received an anonymous tip describing the photos, which were posted to Twitter around Jan. 30. The girl, a student in James City County, admitted to posting "multiple" lewd photos of herself to the social networking website last week, according to police.

"One of our school resource officers made contact with her and her mother," Stephanie Williams-Ortery, a spokeswoman for the James City County Police Department told The Huffington Post.

"The young lady acknowledged that she had posted the pictures of herself [and] the mother acknowledged that the photos were of her daughter," Williams-Ortery said.

According to police, the girl, who has not been named, also admitted to sending photos directly to male acquaintances she was hoping to impress. She has been charged as a juvenile with felony "possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation and facilitation of child pornography," Williams-Ortery said.

Not everyone in the community agrees with how police are handling the case.

"I don't think she should be charged with child pornography, because she is a child herself," parent Emily Altman told WAVY.com.

"That is distributing child pornography?" said parent Dometre Mobley. "She is a child."

However, because the girl is charged as a juvenile Virginia law would not require her to register as a sex offender, if she is found guilty, so long as she fulfills her obligations to the court.
^ The girl is a fucking moron, but does not deserve pedo charges. That is some crazy shit right there.
yeah. I mean she should be charged with maybe distributing underage sexual content.

distributing child porn should be when you distribute something that depicts someone that is pre-pubescent

It seems harsh, but at the same time, she could have caused anybody who received those pictures to get hit.
it's funny because they promote pedophilism yet clamp down upon it at the same time.

it's like they need to encourage people to do it, but still keep it taboo so it can be some sort of "ultimate crime"

they are definitely blackmailing, setting people up with this stuff. not in this case, but it's just insane how the pedo culture is promoted more and more. sexualizing young girls etc.

the trend will be towards BOTH promotion and dis promotion.

drug charges aren't enough to really bring someone down, reference rob ford.

infidelity? lol. not enough.

so they still need an "ultimate crime" and it's still pedophilia.

however, the media and academics are trying to apologize for pedos, esp. hollywood pedos.

also overly concentrating on pedophilia is also a way to separate parents from their kids. normal interactions may be questioned as "crossing the line" or "crossing boundaries"
Skynet Has Arrived? European Union Unveils RoboEarth, An Internet Just For Robots

Scientists have created a network which various smart devices and artificial intelligences will use autonomously to share information and learn from each other – increasing their capabilities. Should we just surrender now? The BBC reports:

A world wide web for robots to learn from each other and share information is being shown off for the first time. The system has been developed by research scientists from Philips and five European universities including Eindhoven.

It is the culmination of a four-year project, funded by the European Union. The eventual aim is that both robots and humans will be able to upload information to the cloud-based database, which would act as a kind of common brain for machines.

“At its core RoboEarth is a world wide web for robots: a giant network and database repository where robots can share information and learn from each other,” said Rene van de Molengraft, the RoboEarth project leader.

James Barrat, who has written extensively about the dangers of robots gaining their own intelligence, thinks there need to be safeguards: “The consequences of sharing that capability [to evolve or otherwise improve their own software] with the central ‘mind’ should be explored before it happens.”

Crime Dog Actor Sentenced For Pot, Weapons

McGruff the Crime Dog has been barking up the wrong tree

John Russell Morales, 41, an actor who once played the crime-fighting cartoon bloodhound, has been sentenced to nearly two decades behind bars after pleading guilty to possessing 1,000 marijuana plants and a cache of nearly 30 weapons — including a grenade launcher and thousands of ammunition rounds.

Morales was arrested in 2011 after Galveston, Texas, police and drug-sniffing dogs — real dogs, that is — stopped him for speeding, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Kusin, who later prosecuted the case.

Authorities discovered diagrams of two indoor pot-growing operations and an abundance of marijuana seeds in Morales' Infinity, according to the Houston Chronicle newspaper.

Police who raided Morales' residence seized 1,000 marijuana plants and 9,000 rounds of ammunition for 27 weapons — including a shotgun, pistols, rifles, and a military grenade launcher, according to court documents obtained by NBC News.

20 years seems harsh for that.

he didn't kill anyone and pot is pretty much legal in many places these days.

They go after pedos, while at the same time reducing the penalties for the behavior.

The bold sounds like classic change through conflict.

In the wake of their own president being surrounded by scandal, the French media is getting very over-excited about a rumour that Beyonce has been having an affair with President Obama – a claim the singer has swiftly denied.

The affair claims came as Francois Hollande arrived in America on an official state visit without his now-ex partner, Valérie Trierweiler.

Rumours of an affair between the American president and the pop superstar were first made this morning by a man with some expertise in the subject.

Pascal Rostain, a French paparazzo, who snapped Hollande cheating on his first lady with the actress Julie Gayet, spoke of the alleged relationship during a sensational interview on the Europe 1 radio station.

He said: "Indeed, it will come out tomorrow in the Washington Post. We cannot say that it is from the gutter press - a supposed liaison between President Barack Obama and Beyonce. I can assure you that the world will talk."

The Washington Post immediately denied any such report – saying the newspaper does not produce articles' of this kind and that it is "definitely not true."

But Rostain's claims were reported by a range of respected media in France, including respected newspaper Le Figaro, and Le Point.

Questioned about the Obama-Beyonce claims following the denial by the Washington Post, Rostain said they were a "joke."

Rostain backpedaled on his comments in a piece published onjeanmarcmorandini.com later on Monday, saying he "didn't say that at all" about Obama and Beyoncé. He clarified that "some American journalists were working on the case."

"It looks like things between Barack and Michelle Obama haven't been in the best of shape for a couple of weeks," Rostain said, according to a HuffPost translation. "From what I know, the atmosphere is pretty frigid between Barack and Michelle. But I know nothing more.”

Beyoncé and her rapper husband Jay Z have been friends with the Obamas for several years and she performed at Michelle Obama’s recent 50th birthday party.

A spokeswoman for Beyoncé dismissed the claim as "absurd."
The Obama family and the Z family are swingers. You read it here first.
Quote:The Game Changed in Venezuela Last Night – and the International Media Is Asleep At the Switch

Dear International Editor:

Listen and understand. The game changed in Venezuela last night. What had been a slow-motion unravelling that had stretched out over many years went kinetic all of a sudden.

What we have this morning is no longer the Venezuela story you thought you understood.

Throughout last night, panicked people told their stories of state-sponsored paramilitaries on motorcycles roaming middle class neighborhoods, shooting at people and storming into apartment buildings, shooting at anyone who seemed like he might be protesting.

People continue to be arrested merely for protesting, and a long established local Human Rights NGO makes an urgent plea for an investigation into widespread reports of torture of detainees. There are now dozens of serious human right abuses: National Guardsmen shooting tear gas canisters directly into residential buildings. We have videos of soldiers shooting civilians on the street.

And that’s just what came out in real time, over Twitter and YouTube, before any real investigation is carried out. Online media is next, a city of 645,000 inhabitants has been taken off the internet amid mounting repression, and this blog itself has been the object of a Facebook “block” campaign.

What we saw were not “street clashes”, what we saw is a state-hatched offensive to suppress and terrorize its opponents.

Here at Caracas Chronicles we’re doing what it can to document the crisis, but there’s only so much one tiny, zero-budget blog can do.

After the major crackdown on the streets of large (and small) Venezuelan cities last night, I expected some kind of response in the major international news outlets this morning. I understand that with an even bigger and more photogenic freakout ongoing in an even more strategically important country, we weren’t going to be front-page-above-the-fold, but I’m staggered this morning to wake up, scan the press and find…

Nothing.

As of 11 a.m. this morning, the New York Times World Section has…nothing.

And the sheep will be distracted by nonsense yet again.

Clinton became more popular after his affair became public. This may be all obama has left.
