China ‘holds general’s son for gang rape’

February 22, 2013

China has detained the 17-year-old son of a general on suspicion of involvement in a gang rape, reports said Friday, the latest allegation against the privileged children of officials to spark public outrage.
Li Tianyi, the son of general Li Shuangjiang — a popular singer and household name in the country — was held on Thursday, reported several Chinese news outlets including state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV).
Crimes by the offspring of China’s elite cause particular anger among ordinary people.
The latest reports did not go into detail about the alleged offence, but news of the teenager’s arrest was re-posted thousands of times on Sina Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, with many users leaving angry comments.
this is what happens when you don't fluordiate.. massive outrage by the masses.

If you think China truly censors political dissent just go to weibo.com

and see for yourselves..
I read the thread title and thought the Chinese government were gang raping him lol

I am very surprised how outraged the masses get when shit like this happens.

like TRUE outrage... that scares the govt.
Thread title was very misleading, lol.
lol. I just took it from the AFP article!
EY, Why are the Chinese, by and large, not nearly as civilized as their Korean/Japanese cousins ?

obviously population size plays a big part, but even when the China/Japan stuff got heated up.

Chinese protestors were attacking Japanese businesses and diplomatic offices, while Japanese protestors peacefully protested.
A lot of it has to do with communism and the cultural revolution.. it wiped out many thousand years of conservatism/morals etc.

also Chinese people seem to lack the "barbarian" blood that japanese/koreans have. they tend to be more individualistic.
This holds true for Thailand as well. Corruption is extremely widespread and blood money is quite an accepted practice, but when shit gets too out of hand the people rise.
This is very unlike Sweden where good government is simply expected. And sheepishly accepted without viewing corruption as an option. Cynicism with a hint of vengeance vs Naivety and inaction.
