Well, Joe, I hope you read this thread, in that case!

I have discussed Wag the Dog a bit in this thread, IIRC. I was never entirely sure if the writers knew Kubrick or were relating a story they had heard (in Hollywood circles, naturally).

The film that Jack Nicholson did AFTER The Shining was... The Postman Always Rings Twice.

David Mamet wrote the screenplay for it. And... Wag the Dog.

Mamet and Nicholson also worked together on Hoffa. But the interesting thing is the time frame, it would have been right afterwards.

Remember Barry Lyndon, the film Kubrick directed USING CANDLELIGHT (and Zeiss lenses he was somehow able to borrow from NASA), for which Kubrick expected to receive an Oscar?

"They talked about the costumes"
Barry Lyndon won the Oscar for Best Costume Design! And 3 other Oscars, but NONE of the 3 that Kubrick was nominated for, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay!

"I want the credit! I want... The credit"

Chuck Liddell was a child actor in that film playing a boy scout. He did a scene with Jack Nicholson irrc.
