good breakdown of apollo references in the shining

Weidner pushing the 'secret space program' again...

He says that Halloran's death in the movie The Shining is an allusion to someone close to Stanley that died, because they either discovered his secret (working on the Apollo TV Program) or he told them.

And Weidner says he doesn't know who.

Kubrick's 2nd wife was Ruth Sobotka, a ballet dancer. She DIED AT 42 (!) very suddenly, and strangely, in JUNE 1967.

They had divorced some years earlier, but I think it is fairly well known they were still on decent terms/speaking to each other.

Also, Weidner completely misinterprets the writing room. I already showed that it is the Moon Tarot card, that is being represented.

secret space program = boolsheet

Yeah, well, I guess they try to define it as 'any military craft that they haven't told us about', so making it true by definition, but then they just speculate that they can go to the Moon and Mars with these secret craft.

Just slipping from fact to fiction in one breath.

I think it would make the movie far better.
visually it's the most amazing movie, but it is slow for sure

It was setting the pace for the Apollo footage, remember.

The point of both was not to entertain, but rather entrance. Hypnotize. PUT TO SLEEP. That was the point.

It is definitely no coincidence that the psychedelics scenes kick in after the 2 hr mark. Isn't that how long substances like mushrooms take to take effect?

Carl Sagan, in his half-revelation/half-memory of the Apollo Program, mentions that it all felt like a dream at the time, I think the first footsteps on the lunar surface were aired at something like 12 am or later (Eastern time, I imagine).
We got a nice anniversary coming up...

50 years!

Hey, remember that time the dude climbed Mount Everest, and then no one else was able to do it for over 50 years?

Remember when some guy flew over the Atlantic, solo, and then no one replicated it for over 50 years?

Columbus sailed to the New World in 1492, and no one else could manage it either, for 50+ years.

Oh wait, no, that isn't what happened in those other cases at all!
Can't tell if srs
50 Years of the Big Lie!

Adolf would be so proud!

Quote:"All this was inspired by the principle—which is quite true within itself—that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.

It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying."

Nell Carter is running the moon rock lab??

The moon rock lab is staffed exclusively with strange feminist women. Rather odd to have so many women working together, that's until you realize that women are less likely to question superiors. Reminds me of the story of NASA's black female mathematicians who supposedly sent John Glenn into orbit.
