Row as Vue cinema bans 'gay cure' film screening

A row has broken out over the screening of a film that advocates therapy to "cure" people from being gay.

Christian group Core Issues Trust had hired a screen at Vue Piccadilly, London, to show the film "Voices of the Silenced" on Thursday.

The documentary tells the stories of 15 people "emerging out of homosexual lifestyles" and aims to "preserve and promote teachings on sexual ethics".

But Vue cancelled the booking after the event drew criticism.

According to Vue, Core Issues Trust - which made the film - first reserved the space at the end of November as a "personal booking".

The film was received by the cinema on 22 January, but when a press release was sent to the company on Tuesday it decided to "review the intentions of the event."

A spokeswoman for the cinema said: "While it is not our intention to censor content, in some instances, where we feel an activity is in direct contradiction to Vue's values, a decision will be made to refrain from allowing a private event to go ahead."

Core Issues Trust is now seeking advice from lawyers, and told the BBC it had 126 people attending the event from across the UK and other countries, including the Netherlands.

The group promotes "change-oriented processes" for "relationally and sexually damaged and wounded adults who seek wholeness".

It describes itself on its website as "a spiritual home... for believers and seekers who struggle with issues of sexual brokenness, including homosexuality".

Mike Davidson, who leads Core Issues Trust, told the BBC the film was not about a "gay cure" but "the rights of individuals to access help and support for unwanted homosexual feelings".

Members of the LGBT community say the organisation's teachings are "unethical".

A spokesperson for campaign group Stonewall said: "It's disappointing that Vue Piccadilly would consider screening a documentary about so-called 'conversion therapy'.

"LGBT people aren't ill. Being gay, lesbian, bi or trans is not something that should be 'cured' or changed.

"This unethical and degrading practice has been condemned by all major UK health organisations.
It's shocking that Vue Piccadilly initially viewed this as a suitable film to screen."

Pink News launched a petition to get the screening cancelled after one of its former journalists received an invitation.

It said Vue had a "duty to ensure that material such as this is not shown on its screens" and that LGBT staff could "unwittingly be disturbed by the content"

I'm guessing that the main reason this is considered taboo is because it goes against the narrative that you are born gay rather than it's a choice. I've know gay people that have come out of that lifestyle with much effort. It's not easy and there are forces trying to pull you back. But you can get out of that lifestyle but apparently there are certain groups that don't want people to know that.
There is not a shred of evidence that any abnormal sexual desire can be cured through therapy.

Look at the success rate for pedophiles... Therapy is mandatory and yet they keep re-offending. Only reliable way to stop it is chemical castration.
I believe there's a big social element to sexuality, but once someone's gone they are gone, the conversion stuff is just ammo for the left tbh.
you probably need advanced neuro-surgery to fix homosexuality in adults. it's a vile compulsion that has known neurological correlates.

maybe children can be treated with early rehabilitation. but that's it.
.
There have been plenty of instances of people leaving that lifestyle behind. It is a spiritual problem and needs to be dealt with that way. As I said it's not easy. You are dealing with powerful controlling spirits that won't leave easily and then they try to come back later.

I know a famous pastor that had a strong ministry of casting out demons. He said that the hardest ones to help people break free of were homosexual and drug/alcohol spirits.

As I've said I personally know people that have left that lifestyle. It takes commitment and you have to start by going against the narrative that you are born that way. A huge battleground is the mind. That's where the suggestions keep coming from.

Since homosexuality is a mental state, you have no clue if they were actually cured.

"Ex-gay" f@ggots are notorious for turning back to their lifestyle in droves. You have not a shred of proof that a single one has been converted to heterosexuality.

Proof for successful conversion would be if a sodomite, after being treated, became a womanizer and started sleeping with lots of women, getting caught seeking female prostitutes, etc.

There is not a single documented case of this happening. You can fake being an "ex gay", but you can't fake a straight man's sex drive.
before you say some shit like "well a godly Christian man will never sleep around with women!", etc. you just aren't thinking critically.

in reality, the vast majority of straight men (including Christians) are sexual sinners, because we have a normal sex drive. At the very least, all men have occasionally looked at porn.

When you supplant an unhealthy sex drive (homosexuality) with a normal sex drive, you should expect a certain % of these "converted" men to fall into sexual sin.

Why do we not have a single example of a phaggot who starts watching lesbian porn? Getting caught at a strip club? Chatting with girls on Tinder? Having one night stands with bar sluts?

Like I said, I've known some that have left that lifestyle. A friend of mine that I worked with put that behind him. He is married now and ministers to prisoners at the jails.

People can get free but it's not easy just like it's not easy for anyone with a life controlling issue like drugs and alcohol. You are dealing with spirits that will come back when you are at your weakest period and they will drop thoughts into your mind.

The battleground is the mind. That's why symbolically Jesus was crucified at Golgotha...the place of the skull. The word Calvary is from the greek word kranion.

kranion
kran-ee'-on
Diminutive of a derivative of the base of G2768; a skull (“cranium”): - Calvary, skull.
Because of our primitive understanding of neuroscience, not a single one of these disorders is curable:

- schizophrenia
- bipolar disorder
- homosexual desires
- pedophilia
- gender identity disorder

etc.

At best you can treat the symptoms -- a bipolar person can treat his condition with meds; a homosexual can train himself to be celibate, etc. But with very rare exceptions, they remain for an entire lifetime.

What do all of these diseases have in common? They are the product of organic injury or damage to the brain; either inborn or acquired.

You keep throwing around this Statement of one single example when there's no way possible for you to know this.

Nope.

Do you understand the difference between quitting a lifestyle, and changing your desires?

Yes a phaggot can be trained not to sleep with men. Men go celibate all the time. The Bible recommends that certain men should never marry.

Yet there is not a single documented instance of a phaggot who has been trained to lust after women. If there were, we would be seeing ex-gays getting caught with a stripper or trying to sleep with a girl.

Because it's a freaking brain disorder.

There are millions of evangelical Christians, and they claim there are hundreds of thousands of "ex gays" worldwide.

Not a single one has been caught in a heterosexual sex scandal.

In fact even in a sample pool of just 100 ex gays, this statistic is a giant red flag. What % of straight men fall into sexual sin? Far too many to count, the vast majority of us have in the year 2018.
you would think this would be common sense

Common sense tells you that man who is disturbed enough to stick his penis inside another man's hairy rectum, while enjoying it thoroughly, has got something severely wrong with his brain. You can't fix this through therapy or praying to Jesus. He is fucked up!

I am describing all sorts of bizarre compulsions here, not just homosexuality.

A female addicted to eating rocks, dirt, and clay --> incurable

A man who hears voices telling him to jump off bridges, rape women --> incurable

A man who, half the time, is too depressed to even get out of bed, and is hyperactive / overexcited the other half of the time, and switches between these mentalities for no reason whatsoever --> incurable

Sticking your penis in the crack of another man's ass --> incurable

Lesbianism, on the other hand, can be cured, and we have too many documented examples of this happening.

Guess why? It's not a disgusting, objectively harmful act like male phaggotry

..
I have tried explaining this to Christians and they just don't get it.

"Jesus can cure any illness!" no he won't, there is not a single example of an amputee re-growing his limbs.

By the way, there is a documented example of a female with severe pica being treated.

It turns out she had a massive tumor in her brain -- once it was removed, the compulsion to eat dirt and rocks disappeared.
